In this case, I think mercy killing is in order
I recently had the misfortune of hearing a priest not only solicit applause for visitors to his parish... but also applause for himself. I felt duty-bound to point out to the good Father the below listed quote from Pope St. Pius X on the subject. Unfortunantly, he just smiled and shrugged his shoulders. Sad, really.
And while surfing the net researching the topic at hand, I came across a nifty little webiste, MyCatholicSource.com, and they have an equally nifty flyer suitable for dropping off at your local Self-Worshipitorium... oops, I mean Novus Ordo parish.
Here're a few of the quotes;
"It is not fitting that the servant should be applauded in his Master's House." - Pope St. Pius X
“Whenever applause breaks out in the liturgy because of some human achievement, it is a sure sign that the essence of the liturgy has totally disappeared and been replaced by a kind of religious entertainment.” - Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger
If you don't applaud The Consecration, why applaud anything else? - The MyCatholicSource crew
Watch when Mahony starts talking. What's in the center of the 'stage'? A crucifix? No, there isn't a crucifix in the whole place. The tabernacle? No.
ReplyDeleteMahony's throne.
I have no illusions as to what they're celebrating. And it's not the Lord.
Even though it is dying down, it hasn't stopped yet. Methinks I will have to warm the printer up & print out a few of these to sprinkle judiciously arround the Church.
ReplyDeletePS: re the video
ReplyDeletePlease put up a "may cause blindness" warning.
& what in the theological place of eternal damnation are those 4 white poles arround the altar? I won't say what I thought when I 1st saw them. Let's just say that they look obscene.
I wasn't lucky enough to have seen this before I ate...
ReplyDeleteDon't get me started on Mahony....3 more years....that's all I can say
ReplyDeleteJoe, It could be worse. We have until 2015 for DBQ's archbishop to retire. Right now Planned Parenthood is about to open a clinic in DBQ. It has been known for over a month. The silence from the chancery has been deafening & scandelous. It is almost as if Archbishop Hanus wants to welcome them into DBQ.
ReplyDeleteSchism is the persistant and deliberate diobedience to ecclesiastical authority.
ReplyDeleteEverything about this "liturgy" is in disobedience to the relevant documents and statement by the Vatican, and the Pope--several popes.
Ergo--mahoney is in schism, but no body has the balls to say it.
I, on the otherhand, do--MAHONEY IS IN DE FACTO SCHISM FROM THE CHURCH AND SHULD BE DEPOSED IMEDIATLY!
First, I echo Unitas' cogent remarks. Come worship at the cult of Roger the Molestation Dodger.
ReplyDeleteI believe all those priests and BISHOPS, no less(!), a complicit in this sacrilege.
Why did only the bishops and the cardinal's assistants kiss the altar, or in this case, butrcher block? Aren't all the priests who are concelebrating required to kiss the altar?
My wife and I just watched this together. We both thought the same thing. The one song had the words right there for you. "Come all you people, worship your neighbor."
ReplyDeleteWhiskey Tango Foxtrot! We also observed that there was no crucifix, and BALONEY was higher than the altar and the purposeful center of attention.
We also agreed that the guy carrying the bowl of smoke was as queer as a three dollar bill!
I feel so sorry for Joe and now Al!
Was that guy carrying incense in a wok? Like, for Chinese cooking?
ReplyDeleteAnd those spinning ladies looked like something from The Sound of Music.
If you want to see how people can applaud, can be both noisy and reverent, to meet the Blessed Sacrament, do a "Compare and Contrast" with LA's finest here.
ReplyDeleteTtony,
ReplyDeleteI'll stick with the admonitions of 2 Saints, and the current Pontiff.
But thanks for posting.
