Agenda... What Agenda?Helmet tip to Former Altar BoyThere are a number of sources to this, but here's one from
My.BarackObama.com "He loves his wife. He's good to his dog," Barack joked, referring to the fluffy answers the Senate Judiciary Committee allowed Roberts to give. We need to use a different standard to evaluate justices, Barack said:
We need somebody who's got the heart, the empathy, to recognize what it's like to be a young teenage mom. The empathy to understand what it's like to be poor, or African-American, or gay, or disabled, or old. And that's the criteria by which I'm going to be selecting my judges.I guess a working knowledge of the United States Constitution is out of the question. I'll leave it to the more learned out there to comment exactly what the criteria is for a Justice of the Supreme Court.
Other than having a soft, chewy center, that is.
Makes me want to chuck.
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to appointing top-rate lawyers with enough common sense to realize that the Constitution of the US doesn't contain a super-secret, hidden "right to abortion" that nobody even noticed for 200 years? Someone who reads what's in the Constitution and doesn't make up all kinds of shite to further their own liberal political agenda? Someone who's not afraid to fry child-rapin' murderers? Someone, say, like Justice Anotin Scalia [and one of his nine kids is a Priest who helped Justice Clarence Thomas reconcile with the Church!]
The scary thing about all this is that he taught constitutional law at the graduate level for a few years. This does not bode well...
ReplyDeleteAlso, given all the indiscretions and scandals offered up by the liberals in politics, I think "he loves his wife" and "he's good to his dog" isn't so bad of an answer. Maybe it is and maybe it isn't the job of the government to legislate morality, but GOOD PEOPLE with strong consciences should lead the country, not people who can blatantly ignore the testimonies of nurses who saw aborted but still living babies simply tossed into the trash room along with toxic waste and left to die.
There's a saying in the legal profession: Bad facts make bad law. In other words, the law is not supposed to be effected by emotion. While it may seem cold and heartless to some, it is the only way the law can remain consistent for all parties in all situations. Juries can and are often effected by empathy...judges shouldn't be.
ReplyDeleteIt's all about feelings, no intelligence needed.
ReplyDeleteWell, if according to Barack, you don't need knowledge of the Constitution, let's get a dog as a justice.
ReplyDeleteI seriously dread the Obama presidency folks, and I'm not sure McCain would be better.
ReplyDeleteIf memory serves correctly, Hitler loved his wife, his dogs, and little children, too. Well, only certain little children. The rest were allowed to be destroyed. Food for thought.
ReplyDeletenon sum dignus you could not have said it better. This is exactly how Hitler came into Power and even more exactly Fidel Castro. We will all rue the day we let this clown get anywhere near this point. Not to mention how we ended up with just these two as choices.
