QUOTE of the DAY:

from a June 23 United Press International article about the fact that many Dutch are preparing for the world to end in 2012:

"You know, maybe it's really not that bad that the Netherlands will be destroyed," Petra Faile said. "I don't like it here anymore. Take immigration, for example. They keep letting people in. And then we have to build more houses, which makes the Netherlands even heavier. The country will sink even lower, which will make the flooding worse."

  1. The article says that the Dutch believe the end of the world is coming because the "Mayan" calander told them so?

  2. Oh dear.

The Netherlands "sinking" hasn't been even a remote problem since the 1800s... Next thing you know, this patriot and scholar will be whining about getting more children to start sticking their thumbs in the increasing hole-in-dike problem...

  3. I was planning to retire in 2012, so with my luck, it's probably true.
