Mary Out Of The Attic
It's that time of year, again

Our poor, misguided Protestant friends. The only time they seem to recall that Jesus had a mother, is the time frame starting with Santa closing out the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade 'till the stroke of midnight on December 25th. The rest of the year, it's a case of "Mary who?".

We need to remind our Protestant friends that Jesus (being the good Son that He was) kept the Commandment to honor His Father. It's a pretty safe bet that He also honored His mother. If Protestants so desire to "be more Christlike", as many of them claim, honoring Christ's mother is one of the good starting points.

And I don't really care what National Geographic says. Jesus never had "five named brothers and two named sisters". The only Individual on all of the New Testament who is identified as a Child of Mary, is Jesus Christ. Period.

And as far as the Queenship of Mary is concerned, I'd like to point out the following;
"In the Davidic monarchy, the queen-mother, or gevirah ("lady"; feminine form of gevir, "lord") played a very important role. King Solomon instituted this position when he enthroned his mother, Bathsheba, at his right hand (I Kings 2:19), and all his successors followed his example with their own mothers. This was the kings' way of fulfilling the Commandment to honor their mothers (Exodus 20:12)

Each time the Bible records a king of Judah, it mentions his mother (see I Kings 14:21; II Kings 14:2; 21:19; 23:36; 2 Ch 22:2) because she was the gevirah, and so had a special place in his court. The prophet Jeremiah sends a warning to both the king and his mother (Jer 13:18), and the Babylonians took both King Jeconiah and his mother away into captivity (2 Kings 24:15; Jer 29:2).

Jesus is the final Son of David, the rightful heir to King David's throne. He has exalted the Davidic dynasty into heaven itself, thus making it a truly everlasting kingdom (Ps 89:35-37). And, like His earthly forefathers, He has enthroned His Mother, Mary, at His right hand as the Gevirah of the Kingdom of heaven."

Yeah! Thanks for posting this!

I've got one of my quixotic projects up again--about the rosary. Please go check out the rosary post and comment--it's for my 13 y/o grandniece, to help plug some holes in her education. Every little bit helps.
