I know rank heresy (and total bullshit) when I see it. Downplaying the Sacrament of Confession... turning up his nose to preaching SALVATION!? Literally, for the love of God, The Holy Father needs to shit-can this neo-Prot ASAP. No... I take that back. This guy wouldn't even make a good Protestant. Neo-Pagan is more correct.

The über-liberal Bishop of Arundel and Brighton, Kieran Conry, has given an astonishingly frank interview to Andrew M Brown of The Catholic Herald. One well-known priest's reaction: "I'm still picking up my jaw off the floor."
Me too. Here's a list of the things Bishop Conry says in the interview:
1. The Church's teaching on birth control "could be wrong" and is not infallible. Asked if Humanae Vitae was a mistake, he says: "I don't know."
2. "You can't talk to young people about salvation," says the bishop, because that concept means nothing to them. Instead, talk in their language - for example, about saving the planet.
3. Asked if frequent confession is a a good idea, he replies: "No, because my own experience when we had Confession every day at St Chad's Cathedral in Birmingham was that regular penitents came back with exactly the same words week after week. So there you would say, actually, there is no conversion taking place."
4. He insists that Summorum Pontificum is not intended to provide ordinary Sunday Tridentine Masses. He paraphrases the Pope as saying: "Have it [the traditional Mass] but not as part of your standard Sunday repertoire."
These are shocking things for a bishop to say. I've thought for a long time that Kieran Conry, a thoroughly decent and compassionate man, should resign as Bishop of Arundel and Brighton: he is too partisan, too out of sympathy with aspects of the Magisterium, and his misrepresentation of Summorum Pontificum is outrageous.
And yet, at least he has the guts to speak his mind. Several leading bishops of England and Wales share these views; but surreptitiously. They are too cowardly to reveal what they really think, except in semi-private gatherings of Magic Circle hangers-on. Now +Kieran has let the cat out of the bag. Let's see what happens next.

I'm a new convert and my wife says I'm more traditional than a lot of cradle Catholics. One thing I have never understood is why doesn't the church get rid of these flaming liberal priests? The Pope seems to be a traditionalist from the books of his that I've read and his attempts to bring the Latin Mass (Thank God for that) back into our Parishes. Surely he hears about all the crap some of these liberal priests are spouting. Why doesn't someone do something about it? IN PARTICULAR when they go against Church teachings?
And what came out of Vatican II again?
I am surely thinking that it is commom protestant teaching that:
1. You can confess your sins directly to God, you do not need a Priest; and
2. If you truly have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior then you will not sin anymore.
Seems to me what this Priest is saying. Either that or that the Church has to solve Global Warming before it can hope to provide instruction on salvation to the youth. HOLY CRAP! How do you solve a non-existent problem?
I have the answer: The real cause of global warming is all of the sin perpetrated in this world bringing the fires of hell to this realm. If we can beat back some of the sin and heresy by kicking the devil's ass (and his minions) maybe we could reduce global warming!

There is at least 1 Bishop over there who is taking on the rest of them. Bishop Patrick O'Donohue of the Diocese of Lancaster England is basically getting the rest of them POed at him for standing up for Traditional Catholic teachings. He has even gotten Parliament investigating him for "fundamentalism" because of his "attempts to re-install genuine Catholic doctrine on moral and sexual teaching into the schools' curriculum".
Unfortunately he is about due to retire, but his coadjutor seems to be on the same page, so there s a small spark of hope.
Ugh, get the torches! Yeah, global warming my A** too! It's been subzero for a week here in MN and we're still getting pounded with snow.
