U.S. Bishops Wanted Delay In Perverts In 
The Seminary Ban
Things are getting curiouser and
curiouser, by George!
According to Chicago's Francis Cardinal George, US bishops were concerned that the timing of the document's publication would create the appearance that it was linked with the current Vatican visitation of American seminaries.
According to the good Cardinal, "We said [to Rome], 'If you do this, it will be taken as a commentary on the visitations and we'll get into this whole business that the gay community is so sensitive to of, 'You're blaming us for the pedophilia.'"
Ummm... why does Cardinal George give a Tinkers Damn about what the "gay community" thinks?
Oh, and before I forget. One American Cardinal ran away and is in hiding in Rome. Diocese after diocese are declaring bankruptcy. At least one Archbishop (that we know of) has paid hush money to his boyfriend. 80% of the abuse cases were NOT pedophilia, but flat out homosexual (sex with an adult male, not a pre-pubescent boy). So far, one BILLION dollars has been paid out. Should I go on?
Aw hell... but whatever you do Cardinal George, please don't upset the "gay community"!

Cardinal George attacks the timming, I say it was perfect.
While in my opinion the seminaries are a lot better off today then they were say 15 years ago, the fact that the rule and the visitation came at the same time makes the message loud and clear.
Watering things down and spreading them out just makes it easier to sweep problems under the rug.

I was laughing out loud -- but how true. In fact, that was pretty much what Rome told the American bishops, but is slightly more diplomatic terms.
