...And hyper-pigeonholing at it's finest
As I perused the bulletin of my faaaaaaavorite heterodox ecclesiastical community (sarcasm off), I stumbled upon a new one - Paraliturgies.
I've heard of a parachutist, paralegal, paramedic, paramilitary, paraprofessional, parashoes, Yogi Para, Ann Meara, Fawcett Farrah. But I'll be damned if'n I know what a paraliturgy is.
Ok, I'll bite. What the hell is a paraliturgy? As I took a gander at the section of the bulletin listed as Liturgies and Paraliturgies, it was essentially the week's calender, and when Mass was each specific day (usually 7:30 AM during the work-week). Lo and behold, I came across Wednesday... and no Mass. Instead, there was listed;
7:30 am Communion Service
Just a thought.
How did you like,"now that the holiday season is coming, the
ReplyDeleteshop needs volunteers." Holiday?? I usually boycott stores that don't have the guts to call it what it is...CHRISTMAS! Wouldn't expect anything less form a parish that refers to "paraliturgies."
Cavey, you act surprised at this crap? where you been? Alot worse going on than this. One of The sad things about all this, is that there are those who act like there is nothing they can do, but just go along with it. As though they have no mouth. Ya have to wonder, when and what is it going to take for people to say ENOUGH!! They just don't get it.
ReplyDeletePara-liturgical things would be Adoration and Public celebration of Liturgy of the Hours
ReplyDeleteBut I'm not surprised at this, I know a few parishes out here in LA doing similar things
Joe,
ReplyDeleteAnd your right. But does "Communion Service" fall under that? Liiks very Episcopaliany to me.
