I don't think this is exactly what he expected
Helmet tip to Former Altar Boy
I'm sure many of you have seen the film A Man for all Seasons. I well remember the scene where after being convicted of treason on the perjured testimony of Richard Rich, St. Thomas was informed that Rich has been promoted to Attorney General for Wales as a reward. The response of St. Thomas is timeless;
Malta.
Hey Dougie -- all you've done against God and His Church... and to millions of slaughtered children, but for Malta?
Allow me to be the first to come out and say it to "The Honorable" Ambassador-Designate Kmiec; you've been played the fool, taken advantage of, bitched out. And speaking of bitched out, this other quote from the film applies, as well;
And am I the only one who finds ironically hilarious that Kmiec was also a St. Thomas More Professor at The Law School of Catholic University?
God has a great sense of humor... doesn't He?

Classic! And, sadly, oh so true.
ReplyDeleteMalta does NOT allow abortions.
ReplyDeleteHeh.
Indeed, Dan 29, Malta has a state-sponsored religion, and that state-sponsored religion is... the Catholic Church. All laws there adhere to the Church's social teachings. I guess the joke is in Kmiek.
ReplyDeleteIs there a chance that Malta will refuse him?
ReplyDeleteNo, cavey, you're not. Many of us feel the same way about this modern Richard Rich. It will be interesting to see how long he survives at Malta.
ReplyDeleteit also shows how little Obama thinks of Malta that he made Kmiec ambassador.
And am I the only one who finds ironically hilarious that Kmiec was also a St. Thomas More Professor at The Law School of Catholic University?
ReplyDeleteNo, not really ironic at all, Cavey. Irony would only apply if Catholic U. was Catholic in the first place.
