Helmet tip to Mrs NYPD Green
I went to just a few of these alleged hymnals/songbooks to check out some of the titles. Talk about your Novus Ordo Greatest Hits drivel.
Am I the only one who sees a common thread here?
Here I Am
I Will Choose Christ
We Will Serve the Lord
Be with Me, Lord
I Rejoiced
Change Me
Let Me See Your Face
I Will Lift Up Your Name
What You Gonna Do?
I Will Bow and Be Simple
Every Move I Make
Here I Am to Worship
I Shall Not Want
I Sought the Lord
You Are My God/Here I Am, Lord
I Will Choose Christ
Jesus Loves Me
I Thirst
Our God Is Good
If We Dare to Hope
Be with Me, Lord
I Cannot Tell It All
I Will Choose Christ
We Will Serve the Lord
Keep Me Safe
I Will Have Faith in You
Open My Eyes
Revive Us, O God
I See You
This Is Our Room
We Are the Light
I Could Sing of Your Love Forever
Be with Me, Lord
I Cannot Tell It All
God Is Calling Your Name
I Will Testify
In my masses there will no hymns at all theyll be forbudden.
ReplyDeleteAll of those songs are on mahonys ipod and the horizontal worship greatest hits
Don't forget "Sing a New Church into Being," which also depends upon the power of Me, Myself and I.
ReplyDeleteWhere the heck does my favorite fit in to all of this:
ReplyDeleteKumbyah
Kumbaya - Maybe for communion?
ReplyDeleteme,me,me,Just attended my first full bells and smells high Mass yesterday, blessedly did not hear a single "me" hymn, what a sight, I got lost in the mass and just enjoyed it
ReplyDeleteYou left out Gather Us In. *puuuke*
ReplyDeleteAnother thing to note is that some of those are Protestant Praise and Worship songs. "I Could Sing of Your Love Forever" pops up pretty frequently on those commercials.
ReplyDelete(Aside: I read "I Sought the Lord" and the first thing that popped into my head was "I Shot the Sherriff")
Me, me, me, me . . . OOPS! . . . I mean . . . I, I, I , I . . . . :-)
ReplyDeleteRemember, "I is the church"!
ReplyDeleteAnita kinda beat me to it - all sung by that wonderful contemporary 'Catholic' group I. M. Divine & the MeMyself-n-I's.
ReplyDeleteSooooooo groovy.
Amanda, I though of that old favorite,
ReplyDeleteI fought the law and the law won.
"I fought the Lord and the lord won"
The worst is anything by Marty Haugen, to which Mr. Scampers (MMS #4) referred to as : "homely 1970s cheezeball hippy crap musical abominations"
