Father Tom Euteneuer, the president of Human Life International and the priest who firmly corrected Cafeteria-Catholic Sean Hannity on the air, has a short teaching video (five minutes or less) on the Eucharist that it worth listening to.
Below is a brief synopsis of the main points Fr. Ike says are necessary for one to receive Holy Communion.
Social communion – you must be a member of the Catholic Church.
Spiritual communion – you must be in a state of grace and believe in the Real Presence.
Doctrinal communion – you must believe all that the Catholic Church teaches as true and worthy of belief.
Yes, that is the official USMC flag in the background. Fr. Ike is a former officer candidate of the Marine Corps, which may give you some idea of the kind of priest he is (especially if you heard him make mincemeat of Hannity).

ReplyDeleteI think every Priest should go through some Marine boot camp training. It would serve them very well. Can you imagine Cardinal Mahoney going through that?!! Being a big fan of the TV show JAG has certainly made me appreciate Marines!!
