What we need is another St...."The Great"

What we need is another St. Athanasius, in this case a Pope St. Athanasius I--a/k/a Pope St. A. the Great

I think we as a Church, in HUMAN, time-conditioned terms, are in deep do do.Adeodatus49https://www.blogger.com/profile/16574448503953046867noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18853193.post-48053316675096575802009-08-02T14:45:55.391-05:002009-08-02T14:45:55.391-05:00I had read a long time ago that Pope John Paul II ...I had read a long time ago that Pope John Paul II feared schism more than heterodoxy.

And I'm STILL tryin' to figure out how that makes him "The Great".Kevin Whitemanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07019976622801954677noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18853193.post-35710731670262843422009-08-02T09:57:43.098-05:002009-08-02T09:57:43.098-05:00Two troubling observations:

The word, Catholic, has become increasingly meaningless thanks to these types of attitudes. We have an emperor has no clothes situation, i.e., virtual schism within an allegedly united community. There is the "official" Church with its teachings which one body of Catholics believes, and there is another "Catholic" Church with its own body of teachings. The two are not the same. Thus, IMHO there are two separate religions in one Communion pretending to be one religion when they really aren't.

I had read a long time ago that Pope John Paul II feared schism more than heterodoxy. I am of the opposite frame of mind. Then again, I am a mere layman without any say in matters.Adeodatus49https://www.blogger.com/profile/16574448503953046867noreply@blogger.com
