I should think it's a lot easier to manage extensive dossiers on every migrant under those circumstances.Kasiahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12252276821520357094noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18853193.post-38876535908440682402007-09-04T03:49:00.000-05:002007-09-04T03:49:00.000-05:00Well, at the rate we are going the Swiss will be t...Well, at the rate we are going the Swiss will be the only Westerners left by the end of the century.Michelle Theresehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16185810008704682978noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18853193.post-54254388030163185952007-09-02T14:14:00.000-05:002007-09-02T14:14:00.000-05:00"During my time there, a dossier was kept on me by..."During my time there, a dossier was kept on me by the State, such as they are for all foreigners..."

Another defect of America's immigration enforcement = foreigners entering on visa's and disappearing in the country, never to be found again.Former Altar Boyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08751535074291354836noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18853193.post-19660837970210101882007-09-01T21:49:00.000-05:002007-09-01T21:49:00.000-05:00Let's hope the rest of Europe can wake up and pull...Let's hope the rest of Europe can wake up and pull itself out of the nose-dive that it's in.

Speaking of immigration, has anyone ever looked at Mexico's immigration laws?

And to think Vicente Fox had the audacity to tell the United States its policies were unfair...

Good for the swiss for realizing its their country and it has borders and are willing to protect it.Unitashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09719645399783959767noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18853193.post-26661967896621374142007-09-01T17:23:00.000-05:002007-09-01T17:23:00.000-05:00Well, Kevin, as someone who lived as a guest of Sw...Well, Kevin, as someone who lived as a guest of Switzerland (Schweiz, La Suisse, Svizzera) for two years, I wouldn't call them Nazis, but they are quite xenophobic and part of the reason is to remain a wealthy country (hence why they are also the banking whores of the world and will protect your money as zealously as the Colombian drug cartel's). During my time there, a dossier was kept on me by the State, such as they are for all foreigners and a lot of citizens as well.

But, you know what? I didn't care. I followed Swiss law and went about my business and subsequently had little problems living there, save for the occasional digestive issues brougth about by the fact that every freakin', bloody meal they served featured !%@#!* cheese somehow, someway . . .

Oh, and every freakin', bloody cow has a bell around its neck. I kid you not - I challenge anyone to bring back a picture of a cow out in an alpine pasture that doesn't have a !%@#!* bell around its neck! Incredible! Where in blazes do the Swiss find the time to do that!?!?! But, I digress . . .

One big difference - children born in Switzerland to non-citizens ARE NOT automatically Swiss citizens. There can be several generations of immigrant families pass before one is allowed - at the discretion of the State - to become a Swiss. The United States is actually one of the few countries that have automatic citizenship for those born here.

Imagine if we changed our policy and followed Switzerland's lead?

The children of non-citizens, I mean, not the cows . . .The Digital Hairshirthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15585915716220088744noreply@blogger.com
