Wakim, nothing can ever be Religion Neutral. God is the Alpha and the Omega. That is unless one worships at the altar of evolution.

Speaking of the altar of evolution, I see that you stated "If a couple changes their mind on invitro after the embryos have already been fertilized why not use the stem cells?"

I see clearly what it is you sacrifice at your altar.Kevin Whitemanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07019976622801954677noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18853193.post-1160331593985565382006-10-08T13:19:00.000-05:002006-10-08T13:19:00.000-05:00I find Katie Couric repugnant.I find Katie Couric repugnant.Dymphnahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01469622835449220113noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18853193.post-1160285853129653692006-10-08T00:37:00.000-05:002006-10-08T00:37:00.000-05:00Evolution and natural selection doesn't lead to th...Evolution and natural selection doesn't lead to the strongest surviving neccesarily. Natural selection suggests that those most "biological fit" will survive and flourish. The measure of biological fitness is not strength, it is a measure of how many fertile offspring an organism, or population of organisms, can produce. For instance humans are much more biologically fit than chimps, we produce more offspring which in turn produce more offspring. Chimps are being killed and dieing faster than they are producing offspring so their population declines, at least in nature, while the human population explodes. The true problem with Harris and Kliebold was that they were unstable to begin with, put on anti-ADD meds, and then harassed. I don't mean to make excuses for them, they could have seeked help at anytime. If they misunderstood the theory of evolution then maybe the Biology teachers at Columbine needed to do a better job, but then again a lot of science teachers in more conservative areas of Colorado, not saying Littleton is conservative, are actually afraid to mention the word Evolution in the classroom because some pissed off parent will complain. You claim that Evolution somehow makes it ok to kill the weak, well that seems to show that you actually don't even know what Evolution is. Evolution is defined as change in allele frequency in a population from one generation to the next or in the course of several generations. We know this happens...we have observed speciation to even occur in animals with exceptionally short gestation periods (insects) and have documented speciation in some mammals (typically rodents). Evolution is not Anti-God, it is Religion Neutral, like all science. You just have to look at the evidence, such as shared ERVs (endogenous retroviruses), common ancestry is the only explaination for how two organisms can share and ERV, and humans, chimps, and bonobos share many ERVs.

Stem cell research, depending on what type of stem cell research you are talking about, has little to do with consumption of other organisms. Embryonic stem cell research, which has basically been banned in the US deals with embryos and the most useful type of stem cells, most stem cell lines were started using "left over" embryos made through invitro fertilization. If a couple changes their mind on invitro after the embryos have already been fertilized why not use the stem cells? We know from other types of stem cells that we can cure diseases with them. A good friend of mine actually had non-embryonic stem-cell therapy done, which allowed for his bone marrow to regenerate after it was all killed off with radiation for treatment of a very brutal type of cancer. He is now cancer free and the docs say he will probably live 20 more years instead of 10 more months as they first suggested when he was diagnosed.Wakimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13214522462925116458noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18853193.post-1160257101451705602006-10-07T16:38:00.000-05:002006-10-07T16:38:00.000-05:00If I believed in evolution, but I might also suppo...If I believed in evolution, but I might also support abortion -- but only for other people.

Abortion is a counter-survival behavior, but those who practice it often also strongly believe in evolution.

But they don't behave as if they do.Sir Galen of Bristolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14249011691189216258noreply@blogger.com
