At least you can find cartidges! I can't hardly find cartridges for my lever-action .303 Savage at retail--not even at the Cabela's here in Kansas City.

So I'm stuck shooting my bolt-action .30-06 (which, as a lefty, and a guy who usually needs to get off a second shot, is a pain).Curmudgeonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16958570482046462392noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18853193.post-1136180735878670922006-01-02T00:45:00.000-05:002006-01-02T00:45:00.000-05:00Thanks for adding me, man. It might please your readers of Anglo-Saxon descent to know that my home state, the former Royal Province of Maryland, was explicitly established as a safe-haven for English Catholics who became, shall we say, extremely politically incorrect after Henry VIII threw his hissy fit. The US has no bishop with the authority of a duly invested Primate (in the clerical sense), but the City of Baltimore is the honourary Primatial See of the United States, being the first and oldest.

It is also interesting -- and instructive -- to point out that while Maryland kept its government in the hands of the Lords Baltimore, the Catholic Faith was defended. However, a manpower shortage caused the Lords Proprietor to begin inviting Protestants to settle. They demanded a place in the colonial assembly and, when they gained a majority, overthrew Baltimore and began persecuting the Catholic founders and their descendants.

Everything old is new again.

There are lots of reasons I love my state. Yes, it has become a haven of Liberalism. On the other hand, how can you not like a state whose state sport is -- no, not baseball, not football, not even lacrosse -- are you ready for this? JOUSTING.

I invite those of you who visit Baltimore to assist at the Tridentine Latin Mass celebrated at St. Alphonsus EVERY SUNDAY at 1100. (That is 11am or "11 in the morning" to you civilians.) My wife and I went there this past Pentecost: it was awe-inspiring, to put it lightly.

Here's a link to the Church: http://www.stalphonsusbalt.org/.

Semper fidelis et Dominus tecum,

Gaufridus
Dei gratia pater familias fidei defensorGeoffrey Gilberthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04892413353061949813noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18853193.post-1135646743199045912005-12-26T20:25:00.000-05:002005-12-26T20:25:00.000-05:00OUTSTANDIN!!! Well, that was my first impression.

Yeah... overwhelming. Overwhelming in just how CATHOLIC it all was. Whoever coined the phrase "The Mass of the Senses" hit the nail right on the head.

Every Mass I go to, the sights, sounds, smells, and above all, the spirituality, they all simply wash over me.

Conde, my friend... you're in for something very special.Kevin Whitemanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07019976622801954677noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18853193.post-1135646207937206942005-12-26T20:16:00.000-05:002005-12-26T20:16:00.000-05:00Scarface, one of my favorite movies of all time.Th...Scarface, one of my favorite movies of all time.

Thanks for the plug as well!

I'm attending my very first Tridentine Mass this coming weekend.
