NC Gov calls for "suspension of elections" - Just kidding says spokeswoman

Tar Heel governor, Bev Perdue, known in Democrat circles as an überhard-core Obama supporter and recipient of $8.9 billion worth of taxpayer dollars from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (better known as the Obama stimulus plan), has raised more than a few eyebrows.

Speaking before Cary, NC, Rotary Club, the North Carolina Chief Executive stated, "I think we ought to suspend, perhaps, elections for Congress for two years and just tell them we won't hold it against them whatever decisions they make to just let them help this country recover."

Many consider North Carolina to be a battle ground state in the upcoming 2012 presidential election, a fact that hasn't been missed on by the Chief Executive.

According to official White House transcripts, while speaking at a fundraiser held in a Washington, DC private residence, Obama prominently mentioned North Carolina not once, but twice."But I will tell you, we intend to keep the pressure on. And I, just this week, have traveled to North Carolina... Before that, right after I made the speech, we were in Virginia. In Virginia we had probably about 12,000 people; in North Carolina about 10,000. And folks are ready for action."
The president very well could be wishing he could have a do-over on his following statement; (Emphasis mine)
"It’s estimated that the American Jobs Act would... add as many as 1.9 million jobs..."

Frank James, writer with the left-leaning National Public Radio, had some interesting comparisons and observations in regards to the president's visit to North Carolina State University in Raleigh this past Wednesday.

While speaking before an enthusiastic crowd of supporters at NCSU, the president was attempting to rally his faithful to support his recently unveiled American Jobs Act stimulus plan, complete with an almost $1 trillion price tag.

James noted that a spontaneous exchange between Obama and a rally supporter ended up eerily reminiscent of a New Testament exchange between Christ and Saint Peter.

9-11 flag suspected of being burned by vandals

"This is American soil, so who's doing this? Americans. What kind of American burns an American flag at a business? This is not a political rally or something; this is my place of business that I worked hard to create."

So said Jason Saucier, co-owner with his wife, Jennifer, of the local business Prima Day Spa.

As reported by Wilmington's WWAY, the couple placed an American flag in front of their place of business to commemorate those who were brutally killed by terrorists on 11 September, 2001.

As the couple returned today, they found the flag they flew to show respect for the heroic dead to be completely burned.

Mrs. Saucier was quoted as saying, "I just drove up this morning, and it was singed, gone. I'm just sick."

Local youth remember 9-11 with pain and sweat

Wilmington's Lewis kids come from a long line of those who serve others... and proud of it.

Dad (Tom) is a Navy vet as well as a retired New York City police officer, and mom (Tara) is a former Emergency Room nurse.

Both sides of the family have generations worth of both New York cops and fire fighters, as well as members of the Armed Forces, with a heavy emphasis towards the Marine Corps side of the equation.

Quite possibly because it's in their DNA, the oldest of the seven Lewis children, John (18); Molly (16); and Breda (15) have decided to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the terrorist attack by sacrificing a little pain and more than a little sweat to let Wilmington know that patriotism is alive and well in the young people of this nation.

Finally revealed 10 yrs later - 9/11 fighter jocks Kamikazie mission

The 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on this nation is today.

Even a decade later, there are acts of heroism, guts and courage that the American people are still just finding out about.

And personally speaking, acts that bring a lump to my throat and cause me to at least try and keep from tearing up.

One of those cases is the story of Colonel Marc Sasseville and Lieutenant Heather “Lucky” Penney of the 121st Fighter Squadron of the Washington, D.C. Air National Guard.

Here are but a few snippets of an article from the Washington Post, and believe me, a few snippets is all it takes to get the gist of the story. The day's fourth hijacked airliner seemed to be hurtling toward Washington, D.C. Penney, one of the first two combat pilots in the air that morning, was told to stop it.

The one thing she didn't have as she roared into the sky was live ammunition. Or missiles. Or anything to throw at a hostile aircraft.

Except her own plane. So that was the plan.

Because the surprise attacks were unfolding, in that innocent age, faster than their warplanes could be armed, Penney and her commanding officer went up to fly their jets straight into a Boeing 757.

"We wouldn't be shooting it down. We'd be ramming the aircraft," Penney recalls of that day. "I would essentially be a kamikaze pilot."

NY: Muslims Fail to Follow Rules -- Police to Blame

What started as an end of Ramadan outing at Rye, NY's Playland Amusement Park, ended up as a near-riot.

Of the three thousand Muslims attending the "Eid-Al-Fitr Trip to Playland," estimates ranging from 30-40 individulas were involves in a fracas that ended up in fifteen arrests.

As reported by LoHud.com, the vice-president of The Muslim American Society of New York, Sharif Aly, placed the blame on law enforcement agencies located in New York's Westchester County.

Aly was quoted as stating, "We believe police, 99 percent of the time, do the right thing. Unfortunately, if they had shown a little more patience this time, tensions would have died down."

The Islamic group's veep went on to state, "All of the witnesses we've spoken to believe that the police used excessive force; bringing in over sixty patrol cars, with one hundred police arriving from nine departments, and that many who were arrested were merely caught in the melee."

The catalyst for brawl was Playland's long standing safety ban on headscarves on many of the rides. Many of the Muslims in attendance took affront that many of their womenfolk were barred from most of the rides due to their wearing of the Muslim hijab, or traditional women's headscarf.

"(Playland Amusement Park) is trying to make this about the dissemination of policy information," Aly said. "But the situation never would have occurred if it was handled appropriately."

Peter Tartaglia, Westchester County's Deputy Parks Commissioner cited a 2010 incident in Australlia in which a hijab clad Muslim woman was strangled to death by her own headgear when it wrapped around the axle of an amusement park go-kart.

Tartaglia also said that Playland has to date, never experienced any similar incident.

No jobs, but Obama goes on vacation

As was recently released, the US economy created zero net jobs this past month.

And according to the National Conference of State Legislatures, the US unemployment rate held steady at 9.1%

As Jay Mueller, a Wells Fargo $3 billion bond manager stated, "The US economy is dead in the water."
