Alleged Catholic School Violates the Basics of Catholicism
"Thou shalt not have strange gods before me." Exodus 20:3

Maybe they took their cue from the former pontiff, John Paul II, when he received a Hindu blessing while visiting India.

In any case, Marymount School of New York City has decided to officially celebrate the Hindu holy day of Diwali.

Predictably, the school's website posted a false ecumenism-friendly fluff piece;
"Diwali, one of India's national holidays, is celebrated by Hindus, Sikhs, and Jains, as well as people of other faith traditions, in recognition of good defeating evil: in the Hindu faith, the five-day festival marks the return of Lord Rahma to his kingdom Ayodhya after defeating the evil Ravana, and also Lord Krishna's defeat of the demon king Narakasura."But unfortunately for Marymount, Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, was quoted as stating exactly what Diwali really is; (emphasis mine)
"Hindus worship goddess of good fortune and beauty Lakshmi, god of wisdom and auspiciousness Ganesh, and mountain Goverdhan on this day. Also on this day, coronation of Lord Ram was held, Lord Hanuman was born, Lord Vishnu returned kingdom to monkey king Bali of Kiskindha, Lord Vishnu and goddess Lakshmi married, Lord Krishan killed demon Narakasur, and ancient king Vikramaditya was crowned. On this day of forgiveness, festivities, and friendliness; families and friends get together for worship followed by a sumptuous and elaborate feast."Read more...

It's amazing that so many religious people are wilfully naivete. Any fool should be able to figure out that a festival that originated in the pagan culture of India would feature the worship of false gods. These fools need to read Abbe JA DuBois's Hindu Manners, Customs, And Ceremonies. They would learn in a hurry that Hinduism is maximum idolatry!

IIRC this is the elephant god whose herd of elephants not that long ago stampeded through a village whose people had persecuted Indian Christians. Wasn't this showcased by you, Cavey, in the Cave a few month's ago? Perhaps we should refer to Ganesh as "Saint Ganesh" *big laugh* *just kidding*

Black Bart (Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew of Istanbul) goes for this crap too. That's why many of us want nothing to do with him.

I'm no JPII fan but I think that picture of JPII was faked, so I've read.

I don't think it was "faked", but I am no expert. We need another Pope St. Pius X. IMHO. His love and work in Catechism would not tolerate this (yes, crap is warranted, here) stuff, and people do not know that the 'feel-good-I'm-ok-you're-ok' ecumenical change in the Church's Teaching is error. Bad or no formation. Pray much to St. Pius X for intercession, that we all may be able to teach others what we know to be Truth. Go with God.
