National Catholic Reporter gives bully pulpit to attack Catholic Chaplains
In a move that was a surprise to no one, the notoriously liberal and anti-Catholic National Catholic Reporter gave a platform to one of the most one-sided attacks on Archbishop Timothy Broglio of the Archdiocese of the Military Services.

The author, Colman McCarthy, regularly writes a column for NCR.

His latest is an attack not only on Archbishop Broglio, but on every Catholic Chaplain, every Catholic that is serving, and every Catholic who has ever served his or her country. McCarthy even questions the Church's teaching on the right to self-defense.

Here is but a snippet of the article entitled The check is definitely not in the mail;

That 25 percent of the nation’s 1.4 million active-duty soldiers are Catholics who allowed themselves to be trained to solve the nation’s conflicts with bullets, bombs and belligerence strikes me as a raw indictment of the church’s leadership. No one has ever rationally explained to me how modern popes routinely condemn war -- “No more war! No more war!” cried Pope Paul VI in 1965 at the United Nations -- yet never warn Catholics it is sinful to be warriors in the way it is sinful to engage in artificial birth control or have abortions.Read more...

...and it seems his solution would be to have any access to the sacraments, including confession, which you'd think by his reasoning (if you could call it that), is what these "sinners" need the most.

I've got a headache from trying to figure out where morons like this are coming from.

The idiot, or should I just say evil man? No, he is even worse. He's a Commie!

Pope Pius XII consciously decided not to harass Catholic Germans in the armed forces of the Third Reich as a matter of prudential judgment. Clearly, Hitler started an unjust war. Oh, but P12 was Hitler's Pope, right? Never mind what a prominent Rabbi stated when he wrote the book, "The Myth of Hitler's Pope."

NCReporter is plain evil. Evil to the core.

I just got the fundraising letter from Archbishop Broglio. After this, my check WLL definitely be in the mail with a CC to McCarthy thanking him for inspiring me.
These idiots at Non-CR have no idea what the Catholic Church really teaches, etc. If he is opposed to chaplains then McCarthy is anti-soldier, despite his claims to the contrary.

As you well know, Kevin, anyone who has seen the results of a war is inclined to the supplication 'No More War.'

And anyone who doesn't understand exhortation as a device is damn fool.

Like the NCR writer!

Oh, I think they really do know what the CC teaches, but they are militantly opposed to that teaching. That's why I called that rag and one of its hacks "evil." But I get your point.

Adeodatus - D@mn Straight!

"Soldiers also asked him, "And what is it that we should do?" He told them, "Do not practice extortion, do not falsely accuse anyone, and be satisfied with your wages." Matthew 3:14

McCarthy hates the Church!

Re: Matthew 3:14.

Bingo! Jesus doesn't condemn military service, even when those soldiers were occupying by force the "country" of His Birth and undoubtedly the cherished land of His Sacred Heart. Great point!

It was John the Baptist who exhorted the soldiers in Luke3:14.

There are those who are able to defend freedom. There are those who only enjoy freedom and give no thought to its cost. McCarthy is of the latter...punk spoiled brat.
