No surprise here! This is the People's . . . ah . . . er . . . ahem . . . the Islamic Republic of Mass. in action. And don't forget that Cardinal . . . ah . . . er . . . ahem . . . Imam Bernard Law did the very same thing!
Actually the Hebrews did persecute the prophets! Just read Jeremiah. Jesus also said this IIRC. Of course, I know that the Muslim comments regarding this were a blatant attack on the Jews, and certainly not an attempt at responsibile biblical exegesis.
