I hate to say I told you so... but I told you so

To all those dumb-shits who voted for the Dumb-Shit-In-Chief, please know that I'm laughing at you. Oh, and by the way... what ever happened to The 2% Solution? I thought only those evil, top 2% of the population was going to pay for this $1,200,000,000,000 prison rape. Guess not.

Here's some of the article from The New York Times; (Emphasis mine) Mr. Obama’s budget estimates $645 billion in cap-and-trade revenue over the next 10 years that will largely be paid by oil, electric power and heavy industries that produce the majority of carbon dioxide and other gases blamed for the warming of the planet. Many of these costs are expected to be passed on to consumers.

“Let’s just be honest and call it a carbon tax that will increase taxes on all Americans who drive a car, who have a job, who turn on a light switch, pure and simple,” said John A. Boehner of Ohio, the House Republican leader. “And if you look at this whole budget plan, they use this carbon tax as a way to fund all of their big government ideas.”

One utility executive, Thomas Williams of Duke Energy, predicted that electricity rates would jump as much as 40 percent in states that are reliant on coal for much of their power, like Indiana and Kentucky.
Let me see if I can figure this all out. However, being a simple convert, my knowledge of Catholic doctrine and Church history is rather weak…but I’ll try:

Bishop Richard Williamson (SSPX) made some very foolish remarks last November while being interviewed regarding the seminary he was in charge of in Argentina. Those comments were his personal opinions on a historical event, i.e., the Jewish holocaust during the Second World War. (Of course, this did not include the other 6 million killed by the Third Reich who were not Jewish at all, the 20 million killed by Stalin, the millions killed by Mao and Pol Pot, or the almost 50 million children murdered by Americans since 1973…but who’s counting?)

Alright, back to the story.

Now those comments, that had absolutely NOTHING to do with the Catholic Faith what so ever, none the less caused massive embarrassment to the Society of St. Pius X (SSPX), the Holy Father and to the entire Roman Catholic Traditionalist Movement that has been fighting to restore the Faith since 1965 (the year Vatican II ended).

Since then, Bishop Williamson has been ‘silenced’ by his superior, Bishop Felley (except for the attached apology), has been removed as the head of the SSPX seminary in Argentina, and has been expelled from Argentina. (By the way, the same country that was very pro-German during WWII, hide hundreds of wanted German war criminals following the war, and…almost forgot…ran a campaign during much of the 1970s into the 1980s where their military arrested, tortured and killed thousands of their own people…but that’s not important.) Bishop Williamson is now hold-up in London, facing possible prosecution in Germany due to their “Thought Police” laws.

Now he has issued this apology to the world. Will it suffice? Of course not! The “evil” Traditionalists can never be forgiven for questioning the modernization of the Church and the “New Springtime” following Vatican II. To do so might mean that thousands of clergy, laity and theologians have been living a disastrous lie all these years….and you know we can’t have that. So there you go. Even if the Holy Father completes an agreement with the SSPX, giving them their own Apostolic Administration (keeping them away from the Novus Ordo bishops, i.e., "wolves in sheep’s clothing"), the howls from the left, and the conservative “Scott Hahn” style Catholics will be overwhelming!

But just to get this all straight, will Rome, and the world for that matter, require a full apology from the following folks?

1. Cardinal Mahony for teaching heresy when it comes to the Eucharist, allowing every possible lunatic liturgical abuse possible in his archdiocese, and for protecting predatory homosexual priests? Of course not!

2. Retired Archbishop Rembert Weakland for running his archdiocese into the ground and paying off his homosexual boyfriend with diocesan funds? Of course not!

3. Cardinal Kasper, the Holy Father’s right hand man for Ecumenism, for stating that the Old Covenant is still valid for our Jewish brothers, thereby negating Christ’s sacrifice on the Cross? Of course not!

4. The Archbishop of Milan, Italy, for completely refusing to obey the Holy Father’s Motu Proprio freeing the “Mass of the Ages?” Of course not!

5. Cardinal Law, who brought such dishonor to our faith, now hides like a little girl inside Rome, protected by the Vatican. Has he been asked to apologize to the world, and/or excommunicated? Of course not!

6. Every Roman Catholic bishop who has either ensured homosexual men are ordained to the priesthood, and/or shuttled them from parish to parish, knowing that they have left a trail of despair behind them? Will apologies be required of them, or will they face excommunication? Of course not!

The only true evil obviously comes from those men who simply believe what the Church has taught for 2,000 years. They are the true enemy after all…aren’t they?

DECLARATION

The Holy Father and my Superior, Bishop Bernard Fellay, have requested that I reconsider the remarks I made on Swedish television four months ago, because their consequences have been so heavy.

Observing these consequences I can truthfully say that I regret having made such remarks, and that if I had known beforehand the full harm and hurt to which they would give rise, especially to the Church, but also to survivors and relatives of victims of injustice under the Third Reich, I would not have made them.

On Swedish television I gave only the opinion (..."I believe"..."I believe"...) of a non-historian, an opinion formed 20 years ago on the basis of evidence then available and rarely expressed in public since. However, the events of recent weeks and the advice of senior members of the Society of St. Pius X have persuaded me of my responsibility for much distress caused. To all souls that took honest scandal from what I said before God I apologise.

As the Holy Father has said, every act of injust violence against one man hurts all mankind.

February 27, 2009, (LifeSiteNews.com) - Yet another of the Miami Archdiocese's parishes is flaunting its disregard for orthodox Christian moral teaching by hosting a concert this evening by the Miami Gay Men's Chorus.

The concert (titled Serenade), the Chorus's debut performance of 2009, is being held at Saint Patrick Catholic Church in Miami Beach on Friday, February 27. LifeSiteNews contacted both the parish and the Archdiocese of Miami's Communications Office; no official comment was forthcoming as of press time.
(Big shocker, huh?)

This is not the first time an institution under the auspices of the Archdiocese has given a platform to the Miami Gay Men's Chorus. In May of 2008, Holy Cross Hospital (in Fort Lauderdale) co-sponsored a senior-citizens talent show with the Chorus. (Undoubtedly, the spirit was willing, but the flesh as old and shriveled up.)

Catholic teaching clearly distinguishes homosexuality from the so-called "gay lifestyle". The former is considered a psychological disorder, the latter promotes freely chosen sexual behavior that is considered seriously sinful by the Church. (Oh, I'm sure that that all these Backdoor Conquistadors are fulling intending to embrace their cross and live a celibate lifestyle. Suuuuuurrrrre.)

The Miami Archdiocese is said to be no stranger to scandal and wide-spread theological dissent. Two of the Archdiocese's parishes, Saint Anthony and Saint Maurice, are listed as "Gay-Friendly" in a directory published by the Conference of Catholic Lesbians. (How many parishes in your diocese are on this list?)

A little annoyed, but mostly just confused

I dislike Joan Chittister, as a rule. This article, while full of her usual annoying cliches, confuses me because it doesn't fill me with rage. I agree with her that it is a wonderful thing that the Church wants to take a closer look at the dying vocations to female religious life. Her feigned (or actual, horrifying possibility that it is) ignorance of WHY religious orders for women are dying perplexes me, and her attitude toward the Church's "silence" is irritating, but it's nice to have a relatively positive article in the National Catholic Reporter from time to time. And I'm really excited to see how this visitation from Rome plays out. (Emphases and comments mine)

A lot of things went through my mind last week when I read the first formal announcement of the Vatican visitation of U.S. communities of women religious. Some of it was surprise. Most of all, I could hardly bear the delight of it. We were finally going to get what we deserved.

For years, from grade school to the early '60's, one of the things I remember best about church is that every year we got sermons on what it meant to become a sister. Sisters were very close to God, they told us. They had a very exalted vocation. They gave their entire lives to God, unlike other people who just gave their lives in bits and pieces.

We heard those sermons on the valor of the sisterhood year after year, every year of our lives. We got them at the annual parish retreat, we got them on high school vocation days, we got them during the year in glowing terms from the parish pulpit. These women, the priests told us, were special. They were holy. They were different than the rank and file of women who simply got married. They were nuns.

So nuns became my idols, my heroes, my role models. And why not? With support like that, who could doubt the value and impact of the life. Every Catholic girl in the country at least thought of becoming a sister even if, in the end, she did not do it.

After all, women of this stock had founded 469 Catholic hospitals from 1866-1917. They had nursed both armies on the Civil War battlefield despite the dismay of church leaders. They had put over 50,000 sister-teachers in parochial schools during the same period and by 1920 had almost two million pupils in 6,550 Catholic schools. These women, had, for all practical purposes, built the Catholic church in the United States.

But, suddenly, sometime in the early 60's, things began to change. Girls still entered in great numbers but just as many left soon after, a social phenomenon totally unheard of before that time (but not totally surprising). This was a life that no longer attracted young girls much. They simply stopped coming. And just as abruptly, the sermons stopped, too.

Where had all the sisters gone? Out of the language of the pulpit, that's for sure.

But that didn't stop the Sisters. They got the message - both from the documents of Vatican II (what documents did SHE read?) and from the society around them (aaaaaahhhh *flails*) - that the medieval life-style they were living needed updating. And, it was clear, so also did the ministries they had been involved in for over 100 years. Strong women that they truly were, they set out to do both - update the lifestyle and adapt to new needs, with little resources and less support. Even from the church that had mandated the changes. (There is an interesting chicken-or-egg debate to be raised here.)

No matter: They did it anyway.

With the same kind of zeal that fired their small groups of foundresses to give their lives to make life better and the faith deeper for poor Catholic immigrants in a white Anglo-Saxon Protestant country, this generation of the 1960's ventured out of the Catholic ghettoes of their own time to do the same.

This time the women who had built the largest private school system in the world turned it over to the Catholics who had been trained in it and began to build again. They sold hospitals and opened nursing homes for the elderly and began free clinics instead.

This time they built housing projects for the poor and disabled.

They opened centers to teach another generation of Catholics to make peace and seek justice in a period when the powerful had begun to use war as a foreign policy of choice and the long arm of Western capitalism was thriving on a new brand of economic colonialism.

They created spirituality centers to share the fruits of centuries of charism and prayer with a generation who were seeking more than ritual as a sign of religious commitment.

They devoted themselves to the creation of child-care centers in a world where women no longer had the luxury to stay at home and raise children -- even if they wanted to cloister themselves off from the world around them.

They began GED and retraining programs for single parents who lacked the high school diplomas or technical certification to get full-time jobs.

They designed programs in theology and psychology for women to repair the damage done to women's self-esteem as well as their spiritual lives by the distorted definitions of womanhood peddled by both church and state.

They opened courses designed to amend the effects of women's traditional exclusion from the kind of theological education that rendered them equal but "different," inferior to men (barf) and unworthy to be in either sanctuary or sacristy (still true... sorry, Pope Joan. Plus, I don't know if you've heard a little prayer that starts out "Lord I AM NOT WORTHY to RECEIVE You"... but if we're not worthy to receive Him, what makes you think that ANY of us are worthy to enter into the Holy of Holies?).

They began ecumenical prayer groups. They pressed for desegregation. They monitored the effects of national legislation on the poor. They started ecology programs. They became hospital chaplains. They went into prison work.

There was hardly a place where there were the new poor, sick or suffering that sisters were not there with them.

And all the while they went on "giving their lives to God" in prayer and with communities of strangers while they ministered on the streets, opened rural spirituality centers, taught and lectured and developed spirituality programs and retreats, ran half-way houses for battered women and day-care centers for Alzheimer patients. They had no desire to be "a higher vocation." They simply set out to be an authentic one.

Most of all, they went on doing those things years beyond the work life of the average person. They exhausted themselves administering programs, pounding the pavement, providing hospitality, keeping priestless parishes operating, working to protect the environment, and caring for the newly abandoned underclasses in order to take the church where the church of this time needed to be. They began the outreach of a whole new church in the United States.

Then, finally, over 50 years later, without warning or consultation on how the process ought to be conducted, let alone why -- the announcement came as a surprise even to the Leadership Conference of Women Religious, the official contact point between women religious and Rome, -- women religious of the United States got notice a few weeks ago that they are to be the subjects of an "Apostolic Visitation" from Rome. No small thing. Serious and countrywide. The purpose of this unusual intervention by the Vatican, the letter signed by Cardinal Prefect Francis Rode of the Congregation for Religious and Consecrated Life, hastens to say, is "to look into the quality of life of religious women in the United States." (Note well: The lives of women religious, not male religious.)

Well, let's just put it this way: If the number of people served has anything to do with this phase of religious life as it did of the last one, the quality of the life is outstanding. The impact of the life is broad and deep. The nature of the life is spiritually beautiful and beautifully spiritual. Not easy, but worth it.

At the same time, 50 years without support or approval or understanding or encouragement in those efforts from the church has not been easy. (Consider, then, returning to the attitudes and theologies that DID merit all those things. Like humility. Or obedience. Or no pant suits.) Nor has it done anything to make this life both known and desirable, as it did in the past.

So, see why I'm delighted about the visitation?

From where I stand, if the church really wants to support women religious, it's about time for a statement that says again, "These are great women living a great spiritual life and doing great things." (And it'd be great to have a statement from the women saying, "All these pantsuits and Haugen tunes are getting old. Let's go back to the habits, since orders that have habits have many more members and generally report being more satisfied with their work. Latin, YAY!!!" But I realize that's a pipe dream. These nuns want Rome's resources, not their APPROVAL.) Let's hear it: loud and clear. After all, if religious life for women disappears -- or, conceivably, begins to function outside the boundaries of the institutional church -- it will not only affect religious women -- it will also definitely affect the church in the modern world.

Think about it. Maybe we could all use a few more sermons again. Religious life does deserve it.

Many conservatives have attacked the senators for their votes. Specter is the only one of the three who is up for reelection in 2010.

Steele said that he would not defend the trio against conservative criticism back home.

“My retribution is the retribution of the voters in their states,” he said. “They’re going to have to go through a primary in which they’re going to have to explain to those Republican voters in that primary their vote.”

Raleigh diocese directs ministry at gays, lesbians

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Raleigh is starting a new ministry to gays and lesbians. Yet those who have embraced that identity may not like it.

The ministry is called Courage, and its aim, in the words of its executive director, is to "assist men and women who are afflicted with the thorn of same-sex attraction." A 29-year-old international ministry with about 90 U.S. chapters, the Courage Apostolate will serve as a kind of support group -- like Alcoholics Anonymous -- for men and women who want to remain celibate.

The move is part of a more aggressive push by the dioceses of Raleigh and Charlotte to march in step with the Vatican on the issue of homosexuality. On Feb. 24, the bishops of both dioceses will hold a news conference at the legislature to announce their support for an amendment to the state's constitution defining marriage as a union of a man and a woman. The effort is intended to quash the possibility of same-sex marriage, should a court find North Carolina's law prohibiting gay unions unconstitutional.

Though retired Raleigh Bishop F. Joseph Gossman chose not to wade into this thorny thicket, his successor, Bishop Michael Burbidge, is more eager to conform to the Vatican line.

The late Pope John Paul II endorsed the work of Courage. More recently, Pope Benedict XVI reiterated the implacable opposition of the church to homosexuality. The Vatican refused to back a United Nations resolution urging the banning of criminal penalties against homosexuality. Last year the Vatican urged seminaries to enlist the aid of psychologists in screening candidates for homosexuality and other "psychic disturbances."

Lenten Practices for Cavemen


Alright, lets all admit it, we have all subconsciously known this fact for years but may have never actually taken a moment to think about it. The new Lenten fast and abstinence rules, which are a product of the 1983 Code of Canon Law, are a tad weak. I mean, are we really only talking about a little fasting on Ash Wednesday, a little fasting on Good Friday, and opting for the surf as oppossed to the turf on all other Friday's in Lent? That may be fine and dandy and plenty strenuous enough for our pregnant wives, two year old children, and ninety year old grandmothers, but is that really all the sacrifice that we cavemen should commit ourselves to? Given all the turmoil in the Church and in the world, is it not up to us cavemen to do the penance which is required and which is needed for a true Restoration to ever manifest itself?
In case anyone was interested, I would just like point out the fact that prior to 1983, the following was the normative Lenten regulations according to fisheaters.com:
  • Ash Wednesday, all Fridays, and all Saturdays: fasting and total abstinence. This means 3 meatless meals -- with the two smaller meals not equalling in size the main meal of the day -- and no snacking.
  • Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays (except Ash Wednesday), and Thursdays: fasting and partial abstinence from meat. This means three meals -- with the two smaller meals not equalling in size the main meal of the day -- and no snacking, but meat can be eaten at the principle meal.

And remember, St. Francis lived on nothing but half a loaf of bread during Lent.

He warned that in the U.S., Catholics need to act on their faith and be on guard against "a spirit of adulation bordering on servility" that exists towards the Obama administration.

The public lecture by Archbishop Chaput took place on the campus of the University of Toronto at St. Basil’s Church and was attended by an overflow crowd of more than 700 people.

After giving a sketch of the basic principles in his New York Times Bestseller "Render Unto Caesar," the archbishop offered his insights on the need for an honest assessment of the situation of the Church in the public square.

"I like clarity, and there’s a reason why," began the archbishop. "I think modern life, including life in the Church, suffers from a phony unwillingness to offend that poses as prudence and good manners, but too often turns out to be cowardice. Human beings owe each other respect and appropriate courtesy. But we also owe each other the truth -- which means candor."

The Denver prelate then provided his critique of President Obama.

"President Obama is a man of intelligence and some remarkable gifts. He has a great ability to inspire, as we saw from his very popular visit to Canada just this past week. But whatever his strengths, there’s no way to reinvent his record on abortion and related issues with rosy marketing about unity, hope and change. Of course, that can change. Some things really do change when a person reaches the White House. Power ennobles some men. It diminishes others. Bad policy ideas can be improved. Good policy ideas can find a way to flourish. But as Catholics, we at least need to be honest with ourselves and each other about the political facts we start with."

Yet this will be "very hard for Catholics in the United States," Chaput warned.

According to the archbishop, the political situation for Catholics is difficult to discern because a "spirit of adulation bordering on servility already exists among some of the same Democratic-friendly Catholic writers, scholars, editors and activists who once accused pro-lifers of being too cozy with Republicans. It turns out that Caesar is an equal opportunity employer."

There he learned about "light arms handling, explosives, and principles of topography." He was "taught to falsify documents and received instruction from a senior al Qaida operative on how to encode telephone numbers..."

"The detainee proposed, to senior al-Qaida leaders, the idea of attacking subway trains in the United States," the board statement says. In Karachi, Mohamed "received explosives and remote-controlled-detonator training from an al Qaida operative." An al Qaida operative also told Mohamed to go to the U.S. "to assistant in terrorist operations," the document states. He allegedly was planning to use a "dirty bomb."
Not if, but when this shit-bag comes back to kill hundreds, thousands, maybe even tens of thousands of Americans, Brits, whoever... count on Barack Obama becoming the most hated man in the Western World. And a hero in the moslem world.

I wonder if anyone at St. Mary's is familiar with the Official Church Teaching concerning "Liturgical Dance". Probably so. But this wouldn't be the first time they told the Catholic Church to go to hell.

And while I'm at it, when this idiot Socialist Stooge of a President finishes pumping billions upon billions upon billions of OUR MONEY to hire cops in San Diego, teachers in Raleigh, firemen in Omaha, (aka: things that are suppose to happen on the LOCAL level), ummm... what's going to happen when that federal bailout money dries up that has been used to pay their salaries?

I'll tell you what'll happen;

A. Local governments MUST raise taxes to keep these folks employed.
B. Local governments will go back to DC with hat in hand, groveling for more of OUR MONEY.
C. Local government will have to fire a whole buncha people.

And the moral of the story is that it's a recipe for disaster when the federal government starts hiring folks at the local level. That's simply textbook Socialism. But then again, Socialism has always been a disaster.

You might imagine that I am speaking to all the idiots that called the Holy Father out on his lifting of the excommunication of the SSPX Bishops (better known in modernists circles as the four horsemen of the apocalypse). If that is what you think then you would be only half right.

See there are a large number of self righteous indignant buffoons who were incensed and enraged by the lefty modernists for questioning the Holy Father's actions. However now, low and behold, those same "defenders of the faith" turn on the Holy Father because he gave an audience to the enemy of the traditionalist Nancy Pelosi. You have got to be kidding me you knuckle dragging morons. The Holy Father deserves your utmost respect and loyalty. Do not question his taking time to counsel someone who is desperately needing it. This is not Rodger "the Dodger" Mahoney were talking about.

People were clamming about saying things like, "The Holy Father has no business giving audience to the likes of Nancy Pelosi." Sounds to me like the same shit the Pharisees were saying. Next thing these numb nuts will be asking for is Barrabas.

I know this is a strong message but I shit you not, if you expect the Holy Father to continue to stick his neck out to bring the Church back into the shape it should be, you can't be pouncing on it the moment he does something you don't like. You think that it is possible that you may not know what is best, of course not, because you and you alone were the one that saved and kept tradition alive in the church. Better get that damned chip off your shoulder because if I see it, not only will I knock it off, but I will stick it where the sun don't shine.

For his public speaking class under Los Angeles Community College (LACC) Professor John Matteson, Jonathan Lopez spoke on Nov. 24, 2008 about his Christianity. His speech included reading the dictionary definition of marriage and reciting two Bible verses.

Prof. Matteson interrupted Lopez mid-speech, allegedly calling him a “fascist bastard.” He told the other students they could leave if they were offended. When no one left, he dismissed the class. (Oh, I think we see who the [pink] Fascist is.)

The Alliance Defense Fund (ADF), which is filing the lawsuit on Lopez’s behalf, made available the evaluation sheet Prof. Matteson gave Lopez. Though giving several high marks, the professor wrote “ask God what your grade is” and “proselytism is inappropriate in public school.”

The ADF alleges school officials did not respond to Lopez’s complaints about censorship and ridicule. (What a suprise.)

One week after Lopez’s speech, after seeing Lopez talk to the college’s dean of academic affairs, Matteson allegedly told Lopez that he would make sure he would be expelled from school.

Matteson reportedly continued to target Lopez’s faith for public ridicule throughout the semester.
Sheesh... this Matteson character is a douche with a capital bag.

And what if I told you, you could do nothing about it?

"Fellow students and teachers, thousands of children are right now in that very situation. Someone is choosing without even knowing them whether they are going to live or die. That someone is their mother. And that choice is abortion."

Lia's mother says that the topic was of her own choosing, and that she was determined not to back down, even after teachers told her it was "too mature" and "too controversial."

At the schoolwide competition, the mom said one pro-choice teacher on the judge's panel "didn't even want to hear" the speech, and stepped down from the panel before Lia began. After the speech, which Lia's family said was well-received by both students and teachers, the judges initially told Lia she had indeed been disqualified. But controversy among the judges eventually led to a reversal, and Lia's family learned the next day that the panel agreed the girl deserved to win the competition.
More than a few of our own fearless bishops could learn a thing or two from this girl.

And this jewel from WBZ TV in Boston; (Emphasis mine) Are Crucifixes At BC "Offensive?" Some faculty members at Boston College are upset that the Catholic school has placed crucifixes in every classroom and other Christian artwork around campus.

Biology professor Dan Kirschner, faculty adviser for BC's chapter of the Jewish student group Hillel, says the school is being "insensitive" to people of other faiths. Maxim Shrayer, chairman of the Slavic and Eastern languages and literature department, calls the religious symbols
"contrary to the letter and spirit of open intellectual discourse."
And they were removed in the first place... why, again? Don't count on anything even remotely Catholic lasting too long at BC.

2009 Confirmation Test
by your local Church of Meism

First this test is multiple choice, there are three wrong answers and one correct answer. You will get credit for answers in two parts. First if you circle anything, even a wrong answer you get 50% of the point value for that question. If you circle the correct answer you get all the point value plus another 2 points for being right.

Most questions will revolve around the two commandments by the guy with beard in that picture in grandma's house; love everybody unless they don't love you, and go to church on Christmas and Easter.

The purpose of this test is to evaluate the understanding you have of your Faith and determine if you are prepared to pass on to the adult level where you don't need to be at Church every week because you already know so much. Remember this is a hard test, we need it to be hard to make sure you are a going to be a good Catholic. Good Luck!

Of course this is all in jest but the more I think about the paltry job we do educating our kids in the Faith this does not seem all that far fetched. I will be honest, I taught for about three years at my current parish and got burned out. Before that I taught for five years at my previous parish which was a much worse experience. The kids don't try, the parents don't care, and fathers just aren't involved enough. When I want to walk up one side and down the other I can't because it is just their mother showing up. I am a mean guy but not enough to admonish a mother. Especially since the Father is to blame.


The other disheartening thing is to see your work be thrown aside after confirmation as the kid stops coming. Fathers need to get their sorry asses in gear and step up to the plate. If your Church ain't doing it right, then do it at home. Your kid's SOUL depends on it, or have you forgotten that too!
