McCain to make full-throttle push for Catholic vote
By David Finnigan

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Recent polls suggest that Sen. John McCain's Catholic foot troops face a daunting task in winning the Catholic vote this fall for the Arizona Republican. Projected polling gives Democratic nominee Barack Obama 47 percent of the Catholic vote, compared to 42 percent for McCain, according to an Aug. 21st report by the Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life.

  1. When you have alledged "catholic" magazines like the Jesuit's America campaigning for Obama by how they deal with Biden & Palin, is it any wonder Obama is ahead in a survey like this?

I'd like to see the results if the survey was of authentic, faithful Catholics only. I suspect McCain would be at about 80-90%, if not higher.

As for the 47% who support Obama, I wouldn't be surprized if at least 95% of them fit the "Catholic in Name Only" description.

1 comment about the actual poll, it was taken before the conventions when a lot of good Catholics had doubts about McCain being stong on Pro-life. While neither is still perfect, they are clearly the better choice. I wonder what the results would be now. I suspect that McCain would be doing much better, just as he is in other polls after the conventions.

  2. I see Biden has been taking the Pelosi line on Meet the Press.

It seems St Thomas Aquinas has become the Dems' patron saint when they are on a sticky wicket.

Will US Catholics ever wake up and throw these stage Irishmen out

  3. Al makesa good point, which is why I like Hugh Hewitt's distnguishing "Catholics in Name Only" with "Mass-attending Catholics."

BTW-The fellow at "Blowing San #1" says he picks up a virus whenever he links to the caveman. Just passing that along as I am not a geek myself, but thought you might want to know.

  5. USCCB: confusing souls, one day at a time.

I wonder what would happen if the USCCB was dissolved and all Bishops were left to fend for themselves and use their authority? hmmmm
