Holy Card Meme
Tagged by Paul, The Regular Guy

My favorite Jacobite just passed on the following meme with these instructions;
What picture I would use for my holy card, should I make it to Saint, and of what cause(s) I wanted to be patron."OK... so here's a clipping from when I was a hard chargin' young Sergeant on Drill Instructor Duty on world famous Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, SC.

Hmmm... I guess I'd like to be declared the Patron Saint of;

1. Marines.
2. Yelling.
3. Recruits doing push-ups until I get tired.
4. Those on DI Duty who are under investigation for thumping Recruits.
5. Those who wield large wooden clubs.
6. Bringer of Righteous Pain to apostates, heretics and the various forms of assorted bottom-feeding species of Democrats.
7. Those involved in Inter-Service bar fights. Needless to say, a certain Branch (and only them) has the Kick in the Head indult granted.
8. Those involved in Military vs. Hippie Scum bar fights. Needless to say, the members of the Uniformed Services have not only the Kick in the Head indult granted, but also The Spit on 'em when their Down, and Question their Parentage indult. But to gain the indulgence, you have to personally take 'em to the hospital.
9. Defender of swooning women, abused lil' kids and mistreated puppy dogs.
10. The devilishly handsome rogues amongst us.

In no particular order or sequence, I randomly tag the following;

1. My fav Catholic chick from Virginia, Dymphna Road.
2. Mac the Knife over at Mulier Fortis.
3. Coffee Catholic over in Scotland at Ave Maria.
4. My good goomba, Al, over at Is Anybody There?
5. Joe of St Therese over at The Truth Blogged Here.
6. The Curt Jester over at Splendor of the Truth.
7. Vir Simplex over at
American Rumpo.

  2. "4. Those on DI Duty who are under investigation for thumping Recruits."

    I'm shocked, absolutely shocked that such a thing might happen in the USMC. Next you'll be telling us blanket parties really happen.

  3. Great answers Cavey!

    However, I actually STARTED this meme (it was inspired by a question Karen asked me) and so I'm fascinated to see how it's getting along round the blogosphere.

    So that you can see the evidence for yourself, check it out HERE !

  4. What to put on my card is going to take some thought, as soon as I stop laughing at the absurdity of my being canonized.

  5. Ditto AL, and finding a picture that won't scare the living hell out of everyone that would have the misfortune of coming across it will be tough as well!

  9. Excellent! Showed this one to the Beloved - just about shot his morning coffee out his nose. Would we have to end each novena with an "OOH RAH!"?
