Don't think you've heard the last from Presider Pfleger
Some interesting news coming out of Chicago. Turns out that the whiter shade of Malcolm X has been sent packing, kinda.
Here's some of the skinny from the Chicago Tribune;
Cardinal Francis George today asked Rev. Michael Pfleger, the embattled pastor of St. Sabina Catholic Church, to take a temporary leave of absence and contemplate his controversial remarks from the pulpit that surfaced on the Internet this past week.
"To put recent events in some perspective, I have asked Father Michael Pfleger, Pastor of St. Sabina’s Parish, to step back from his obligations there and take leave for a couple of weeks from his pastoral duties, effective today," George said in a statement.
For the love of God, you'd think our "leaders" would have learned from the recent homosexual scandal that just rocked The Church, you DON'T deal with a problem by hiding it away for a period of time, and expect the problem to magically disappear. It takes LEADERSHIP to solve problems.
Oh, but there's the fatal flaw with the hierarchy in America: leadership, or lack thereof.
Let's jump in the ol' Wayback Machine and see just how effective Cardinal George has been with the good Father Pfleger, oh these many years ---- (Emphasis mine)

Chicago Cardinal Francis George has made it clear that he wants Fr. Michael Pfleger out of St. Sabina Church. And Pfleger has made it equally clear he won't go without a fight. Under Pfleger's leadership, St. Sabina on the city's south side has become the largest and most active African-American parish in the archdiocese.
But in November 2001 when Pfleger, 52, completed his third six-year term as pastor, George informed him that he is not granting any fourth terms to pastors. News of this development surfaced Feb. 11.
Don't forget, Cardinal George is also the President of the USCCB. Gutless is as gutless does.
I've been to the website of the "Faith Community of St Sabina". I don't know what religion they are, but it sure isn't any kind of Catholic that I recognize. That is unless "Deacon Couples" and a female "Associate Minister" are some new kind of Catholic thing. They also don't appear to offer Confession, at least I can't find it on their website, and no Masses either they offer instead "Unity Worship Services". Perhaps the problem Cardinal George is having is not that one of his priests isn't obedient to him, perhaps the problem is that he is no longer obedient to the One True Church. If so, he should be asked kindly to please be on his way. I'm sure the good folks over at Trinity would be glad to give him a job.
ReplyDeleteThis is sort of like the pastors I've spoken to recently over the phone, asking if they have or when they will begin saying the Latin Mass. (Although I attend the Latin Mass, thought these novus ordos should be hearing requests for the Latin Mass.) Every (pastor) I spoke with refused..One said, "Latin is not in our culture, the people don't know it." Another said, "I will retire before anyone tries to make me have it in "my" church." Another, "Our parish has many people and we have many masses here, there would be no room for the Latin, and I don't know Latin."????????????????? To each one I asked, "Is this how you would respond if the Holy Father were standing in front of you?" They all hung up on me. What a very, very sad state the Church is in. During JPII, they always threw out the word "obedience", now that Benedict XVI is in, they trample on this word. Possession has taken over so many.. and so many souls are lost!

ReplyDeletepfleger needs his rabies shot.
ReplyDeleteHe needs the S--T KNOCKED OUT OF HIM!!!
ReplyDelete(sarcasm), now, now, don't we all know the best way to deal with Pfleger is to love him? (sarcasm off)
ReplyDeleteOf course since we love him, we should knock some sense into him, as well as some B16 into his soul.
