Isn't It Amazing What Happens When You Defend What The Holy Father Says And What The Church Teaches?
Quality, not quantity
For those who haven't caught wind yet, Archbishop Burke of St. Louis has just been promoted by The Holy Father to the Pontifical Council for Legislative Texts, which interprets canon, or church, law. Benedict also assigned the archbishop to the Congregation for the Clergy, which regulates the formation and training of clergy.
In 2006, Benedict named Burke to the Vatican’s Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signature, the Roman Catholic church’s supreme court and its highest judicial authority.
Hmmm... The very same Archbishop Burke who not just gives lip-service to, but actually publically stated that he would refuse Holy Communion to pro-abortion "Catholics". The very same Archbishop Burke who not just gives lip-service to, but actually celebrates the Traditional Latin Mass. The very same Archbishop Burke who not just gives lip-service to, but actually fosters and promotes Marian devotion.
Like I said, isn't it amazing what happens when you defend what the Holy Father says and what The Church teaches?

The very same Archbishop Burke who excommunicated the pastor and entire parish council of a rogue parish that thought they could emulate Satan ("I will not serve" and not suffer consequences.
Any chance His Excellency may be the next Cardinal Archbishop of New York now that Egan is retiring?
His document on the Church's discipline on the refusal of communion to manifest sinners was brilliant. Scripture, tradition, law, the Saints, Holy Popes, all deftly set out in opposition to intellectual pigmies like Abp Weurl, and some Californians I could name. Give the man a red hat!
PS If there were any justice, Cardinal Mahoney would be parish priest of Oodla Wirra (a glorified truckstop out in the middle of the South Aussie desert...population nominal...)
Red Hat! Red hat! Give 'im the Red Hat!
I would love it if Archbishop Burke went to NYC to bring skunion! But I'd love it more if he stayed in St. Louis to continue to bring skunion! With a Red Hat, to emphasis that it's fidelity, not location, that is the important thing in determining who should be honored in the college.
And Archbishop John Nienstadt has just taken over the Twin Cities. All the heretics at "St. Joan of Arc" and the rest of the gay gestapo are wailing and gnashing teeth.
Love, love, love it! A Holy Warrior...and a rockin' canon lawyer. Yipee-ki-yay!
yep yeps, it is amazing, no, no, he needs to be here in LA..
David: no, Mahony to the South Pole if justice exists (there's no people to teach herodoxy)
I hope the archbishop at the Congregation for the Clergy will be an effective check on Cardinal Hummes who is a Liberation Theology heretic.
1. No, you can't have our Archbishop. We need him here in St. Louis. But, feel free to hold him up as an example of what an Archbishop (soon Cardinal) should be.
2. I served on the altar with Abp. Burke this weekend and he seemed to be very tired. It's the end of a very long and tiring confirmation "season", so I'm sure that's part of it. But, please pray for him and all the faithful Bishops who seem to be fighting such an uphill battle.
