No Greater Love (Now These Are Real Men!)
Petty Officer Second Class (SEAL) Mike Monsoor has just been awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor (posthumous). He was the Mk48 machinegunner providing security for a rooftop SEAL sniper team in Ramadi. Local mosques started broadcasting the position of the SEALs on their speakers, and the Sailors were quickly surrounded.
They elected to continue to provide overwatch and cover for their teammates clearing buildings in the streets below, despite heavy smallarms and RPG fire. Mike's firing position was beside the only exit from the roof. When a grenade landed beside him, he realized that his teammates could not get past him, so he threw himself on top of it, absorbing the blast, and died 30 minutes later.
No greater love hath a man than but he give up his life for his friends.
God Bless Petty Officer Monsoor. Two of my faves recommended this blog but I'm just not sure get it yet.
ReplyDeleteConservative patriotic American Catholics confuzzle me. You'd have to disagree with "third-way" America-Hating Ratfinger on darned near everything he's ever wrote and said.
And, it looks to me that the deck-is-stacked for a Ratfinger disciple to win the next election.
Why not quit and join a good Bible-Believing Soul-Winning Church where you'll be in the company of brethren who agree with you about America and Constitutional Conservatism?
Or, like Obama, have you failed to hear and see what your Church's leader has said and done consistently throughout his life?
It's actions like this which elevate mankind and inspire all that is noble and good in our nature. May he rest in peace.
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing what our troops do for usin the fight against terror.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless them
Why not quit and join a good Bible-Believing Soul-Winning Church...?
ReplyDeleteOh, an English Major. Well, Troll (how appropriate), I'll answer you in language you can understand.
We Catholics is already members of a Bible believing, soul winning church. Anyone who done ever done did read the history of Chrisianity wood already knowd that, and not be confuzzled.
But thanks for posting. It's your last
Dear Troll,
ReplyDeleteBMTIB!
To the TROLL,
ReplyDeleteYour view of Cardinal Ratzinger, now Pope Benedict XVI, is drawn from the US press. It is a false view.
When the Pope arrives in Washington he will have a very felicitous meeting with the President. The agenda will include the Pope's gratitude to Bush for his massive help with AIDS in Africa, Bush's major world wide pro-life witness, and a plea to protect the dwindling Christian communities in the Middle East.
Further signs of a healthy
Vatican -US relationship is the appointment of Mary Ann Glendon (prof of law at Harvard) as US ambassador to the Holy See (Vatican). She is a strong, faithful publicly Catholic professional (meaning Bush did not send Kerry Catholic to Rome.) Do you see?
The press would have you think that the Pope is anti-US, but the opposite is true. This nation and the Vatican are more often in accord than not in matters of international import. A
And the media hate that.
A footnote, Sir Troll:
The bible is in your hands because the Catholic Church gave it to you.
The canon (list) of the New Testament books was decided upon by the Catholic Church.
With apologies for the flippant tone, Troll, please read the Gospels. No where does Jesus say,
"And upon this book I build my Church." The *Church* is what Jesus left us, then the Church assembled the inspired writings you know as the bible.
These Cavemen are a mite touchy on the point, but they are correct to say that the history of Christianity confirms the primacy of the Church.
An invitation: Since you are a sincere "bible believing" Christian, one happily assumes you seek TRUTH. Read the Great Early church Fathers, Ignatius of Antioch, St. John Chrysostom, Cyril of Jerusalem, and St. Augustine.
When you read these disciples, who wrote in the first four hundred years of the Christian era, you will see that the Church they love and serve is SACRAMENTAL, and easily recognized as the same Catholic Church that you find today with Pope Benedict at the helm.
Uriel,
ReplyDeletePlease know that the posting has been suspended for "The Troll". Unfortunantly, the ability to read the English language is as much a mystery to this product of a brother and sister union, as much as writing it is.
I've already informed this chromosome damaged individual, that it's already had it's last posting on THIS blog.
There's no way in heaven or hell that I'm going to allow this jack ass to insult my pope the way it's been.
It's already sent another posting here... and it's been deleted (unread, of course), as will all future posts from this buffoon.
I was surprised that the anchor on the normally secular, anti-Christian NBC network news included a comment regarding the hero while covering the medal-ceremony at the White House today that Monsoor was "a devout Catholic." God bless him and the parents who raised him. May they all be at peace.
