But I Thought Kneeling Was A Mortal Sin!!??

Helmet Tip to Charlie C, the Prayin' Machine
Here is one of the passages from Thomas E. Woods' book, Sacred Then And Sacred Now, The Return of the Old Latin Mass, Roman Catholic Books, 2008.
"A sure sign of decacralization, and the replacement of the sacrd by a more familiar, man-centered ethos, is the reduction or even elimination of kneeling in liturgical settings. Ratzinger was a consistent opponent of the fanaticism against kneeling, and in his book The Spirit of the Liturgy recalled a revealing story from the sayings of the Desert Fathers. When God once compelled the devil to show himself to Abba Apollo, what was most striking about his hideous and emaciated frame was that he had no knees.
"The inability to kneel," Ratzinger wrote, "is seen as the very essence of the diabolical." (Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, The Spirit of the Liturgy, trans. John Saward, San Francisco: Ignatius Press, 2000, p.193)
And while the Am-Church honchoes contunually scream and pout for "greater lay participation via standing during the Consecration..., we have this tid-bit of sanity from south of the order;
Peruvian cardinal stops Communion in the hand
Lima, Apr. 17, 2008 (CWNews.com) - A Peruvian cardinal reports that he has banned the practice of receiving Communion in the hand.
Speaking to the Italian web site Petrus, Cardinal Juan Luis Cipriani Thorne of Lima, Peru, said that in order to guard against abuses, "the best way to administer Communion is on the tongue."
Cardinal Cipriani told Petrus that he took the step to halt Communion in the hand in order to promote greater reverence for the Eucharist. In some cases, he said, the practice had led to gross abuses. More generally he cited the "relaxed attitude of many priests" as a cause for the decline in reverence.

I want to give the Good Cardinal a medal.
I LOVED this! I remember reading the original quote, where he said that he would find Hosts trampled underfoot at the end of all those mega-Masses (well, that's next on the list, I hope) - what a way to treat our Lord!
I really hope that more bishops (and priests, for that matter) will follow his example very shortly.
I want to give him a Catholic Medal of Honor. Wish we had one to give.
Wouldn't that be great to give a people's award to such bishops as this and Burke, Chaput, etc....and the thumbs down award to the Mahonys, McBriens and Chittesters? There is a blog that hangs the Mahony types in effigy and also pins medals on the chests of the good guys. (Lubyanka Prison blog) They've hung from priests to Willy Nelson and awarded from unsung military heros to Ann Coulter to Fr. Euteneuer. It is great!
But having a real medal or plaque to present or mail would be super. Getting the thumbs down handed to a bishop would be like a pirate getting the black dot for going against the code.
Anyway, thank God for this good cardinal. May we have a few more poke their mitered heads up to do the same.
I read this on Fr. Z's site. Deo Gratias! Cardinal C gets 2 thumbs up from me. I'm going to try at a smaller level to get Communion on the Hand banished...pray for me though, I'm in LA.
What's your plan, joe of st. therese? Maybe the rest of us can do the same where we live.
God bless him.

Happycamper, I have just the place for you! It's The Lubyanka Prison Riots Forum. The link is below. Our forum is set up in memory of that infamous Communist prison in Moscow. The prisoners are now rioting and have turned the tables!
Go there and look for the fourth forum down the page, The Hall of Honor. Read the first post on what it's about. Then read the articles. Start at the bottom and read up.
We'd be glad for you to come there and post a tribute to him! I don't know your background with Photoshop, but if you need help I can Photoshop whatever picture you want to put in there if necessary. We give the Medal of Honor to military and the Medal of Freedom to civilians that WE choose. The first post tells why we believe the Medal of Freedom is the higher honor.
BTW you might want to visit The Gallows. We do hangings in effigy there. Our first one was Willie Nelson for his homo song. Sean Hannity is hanging right beside him.
Hope to see you there, Rustler45

LOL Yup. I know! Been there a time or two!
And thanks for hanging Katie Couric. She needed killin'.
my plan to catechize against Communion in the Hand then after that as Communion in the Hand decreases, then propose a ban on it. (As it'd be stupid to just do something without explaining why)
