Name VSC's New Dog!
It's time for a contest
As some of you already know, our beloved Collie of 16 years, Megan, recently passed away. Again, many thanks ro St. Francis for our girl dying peacefully and quietly. But anyhow... we just had a new addition to The Lair.
Mrs Caveman wants to name him Ulrich von Liechtenstein. I want Sean Thornton (yeah, I know here's a German dog, but he barks with an Irish accent).
What's the verdict going to be, fellow Bloglodytes?
I like Ulrich ("Ulli" for short), my daughter votes for Sean and my husband suggests "Schatzi".
ReplyDeleteSorry about Megan. :(

Are you kidding?
ReplyDeleteSean Thornton, of course!
I vote with Mrs. Caveman. A little pip of a dog like that needs a big, gutteral German name. :-)
ReplyDeleteSince you and Mrs. Caveman can't agree, what's wrong with "Spelunker"? :) (He's a cutie by any name, good luck with him!)
ReplyDeleteI say, Fritz O'Connel
ReplyDeleteI like Ulrich. Sorry.
ReplyDeleteAlso, that is the cutest darn puppy I have ever seen.
Hebrew National.
ReplyDeleteKielbasa.
ReplyDeleteBanger.
ReplyDeleteDo you see a theme emerging here?
ReplyDeleteIn all honesty, if I had a Dauchshund, I would probably go with "Nathan" after the famous hot dog manufacturer of my Noo Yawk childhood.
Or something tough since they were bred to go to earth after rats and badgers, and any wee little dog who would go charging into a burrow deserves a decent name.
I vote for Sean von Liechtenstein
ReplyDeleteLooks like a Rommel to me...
ReplyDeleteCavey,
ReplyDeleteIt's simple: "RATZINGER"
He really is cute, and you know who's truly in charge in your household. So, Ulrich it is! Sorry Cavy, but the boss has spoken.
ReplyDeleteI like RATZINGER and BANGER
ReplyDeleteToo small to be Sean Thornton. How about Michaleen Oge Flynn?
ReplyDeleteA weiner doggie! Ohhh, their so cute! I say name him ZACHEUS! You could call him "Zak" for short...
ReplyDeleteHORSTWURST von Sauerkraut.
ReplyDeleteNo self-respecting Kraut pooch 'barks with an Irish accent.'
Take it from a Kraut...
he's adorable!
ReplyDeleteI like Ulrich...Fr. Richsteig would be proud of you :)
My first instinct (after "awwww, he's soooooo cute!") was Hermann von Snuffles...
ReplyDelete...How about "Anathema" (you can have great fun with that one... "Sit, boy... sit... Anathema... sit!")
;-)
You lucky! He is so sweet! No matter what anyone says--he looks like a "Georg" of course the German spelling without the ending "e."
ReplyDeleteCavedog.
ReplyDeleteArchie..Bach..Bailey..Casey..Thatcher..Yaeger..Brady..Malone..Murphy..Wiley..don't forget, ZACHEUS (Zak)
ReplyDeleteI vote for Ratzinger.
ReplyDeleteA wienerdog named SCHNITZEL!
ReplyDeleteCalling the poor thing Ulrich von Liechtenstein would give it a complex he would never recover from. Sean Thornton might do almost as much damage.
ReplyDeleteHe looks like a "Clemens von Galen" to me. Or to use the Blessed's full name "Clemens August Graf von Galen".
(Read more about Blessed Cardinal von Galen here: http://saints.sqpn.com/saintc9f.htm
or here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clemens_August_Graf_von_Galen )
ZACHEUS (short in stature) gave half of what he owned away and repaid 400% more of what he overcharged anyone. Now, how can you go wrong with a good soul like that? Come here, Zak...Zak, over here, get the ball Zak. Good boy Zak!!
ReplyDeleteOkay, okay, enough already - so what DID you name the damn thing?!?!
ReplyDeleteOn the off chance that votes are still being accepted, you could name him after the red dachshund of "Liberty Meadows", Oscar. Or perhaps Oskar.
ReplyDeleteYou're going to find him a handful. A dog bred to charge down badger holes, kill the inhabitants, and drag their cooling carcasses back to the surface will NOT be timid.
