Yes, I said stupid lyrics. What else could children be... the past? But at the risk of being referred to as "sensitive", I have been thinking a lot as of late about children. Children in relation to The Church in general, and children in relation to the Traditional Latin Mass, specifically.

At the Latin Masses that I attend, it's the norm to see young families with many lil' 'uns. I also see a fairly good number of senior citizens. Those in my age group (late thirties - early fifties)... well, not too many of us.

As I call us, "The Children of Vatican II". Too young to really remember the Latin Mass, and too old to be at an impressionable age when orthodoxy was on the [recent] upswing in The Church.

But my goomba, BennyXVISurfRider, recently informed me that there are some High School kids up in the Raleigh area that frequent The Lair, and from what he was told, are fairly big fans. That got me thinking... if they hit The Lair, they're also hitting the many, many traditional, orthodox Catholic sites I have on my blogroll.

That made me think of those High School kids up in Raleigh. Don't worry, Barbara... the word will get out. Youngsters nowadays are plenty smart. They don't want wishy-washy, they want what's solid. They don't want ambiguity, they want decisiveness. They don't want anarchy, they want discipline.

Spitting on the Marines

Here is an e-mail from a Marine chaplain recently returned from Iraq. The story speaks for itself—lousy treatment of our troops at our own airports. He writes about Oakland, and while checking around I find that this is a common experience. I hope that one of our leaders will find a way to put an end to such behavior.

Marines and Soldiers Returning from Iraq not allowed into Oakland terminal
On September 27th 204 Marines and soldiers who were returning from Iraq were not allowed into the passenger terminal at Oakland International Airport. Instead they had to deplane about 400 yards away from the terminal where the extra baggage trailers were located.

This was the last scheduled stop for fuel and food prior to flying to Hawaii where both were based. The trip started in Kuwait on September 26th with a rigorous search of checked and carry on baggage by US Customs.

All baggage was x-rayed with a "backscatter" machine AND each bag was completely emptied and hand searched. After being searched, checked bags were marked and immediately placed in a secure container.

Carry on bags were then x rayed again to ensure no contraband items were taken on the plane. While waiting for the bus to the airport, all personnel were in quarantined in a fenced area and were not allowed to leave.

The first stop for fuel/food and crew change was in Leipzig Germany. Troops exited the aircraft and took a bus to a reception area in the terminal, where there was a convenience store, phones, Internet and restrooms. As we excited the bus we were given a re-boarding pass. Three troops remained on the plane with the rifles and pistols. There was no ammunition on the plane and the bolts of the rifles had been removed. After about 2 hours troops re-boarded the plane and flew to JFK in NY.

At JFK the procedure was similar to Germany, 3 troops stayed on the plane to guard weapons while the rest deplaned. At the gate we were each given a re-boarding pass and spent about 1.5 hours in the terminal, at which time we re-boarded and flew to Oakland.

As we came in for the final approach to Oakland, a Lieutenant who served in Afghanistan with the same unit in 2006 mentioned how when they landed in Oakland they were not allowed in the terminal. He said, "they made us get out by the FED-EX building and we had to sit out there for 3 hours". He also indicated he was almost arrested by the TSA for getting belligerent about them not letting the Marines into the terminal.

Well the same thing happened again. This time we did not park by the FED-EX building, instead we were offloaded near the grass that separates the active runway from the taxi ramp, about 400 yards from the terminal. When we inquired why they wouldn't allow us in the airport they gave us some lame excuse that we hadn't been screened by TSA. While true, the screening which we did have was much more thorough than any TSA search and was done by US Customs.

Additionally, JFK didn't seem to have a problem with our entering their terminal, nor did security in Germany.

It felt like being spit on. Every Marine and soldier felt the message loud and clear, "YOU ARE NOT WELCOME IN OAKLAND!"

If New York (88-73) and Philadelphia (88-73) finish with the same record, they would play a tiebreaker game Monday in Philadelphia.

Wild Card
In the event two teams tie for the wild card, Colorado (88-73) would host New York, Philadelphia or San Diego (89-72) in a tiebreaker; New York would host San Diego; and San Diego would host Philadelphia.

Three teams with same record
In the event New York, Philadelphia and San Diego finish with the same record, New York and Philadelphia would play a tiebreaker Monday at Philadelphia for the division title. The loser of that game would then play a wild-card tiebreaker Tuesday against San Diego.

Four teams with same record
If Colorado, New York and Philadelphia win Sunday and San Diego loses, all would finish 89-73. New York and Philadelphia would play the NL East tiebreaker Monday; the loser would play a three-team, two-day, wild-card tiebreaker with Colorado and San Diego on Tuesday and Wednesday. In that scenario, Colorado (the team with the best head-to-head record among the three teams in the wild-card tiebreaker) would get the choice of having a bye on Tuesday or playing both games at home.

Bottom line....

Well, ain't this just peachy? A group of Catholic parents who defend traditional marriage have been called a "hate group" by a member of the School Board Waterloo (Ontario, Canada) Catholic District School Board's family life advisory committee. Here's some of the article from The Record;

KITCHENER - There aren't often spectators at meetings of the Waterloo Catholic District School Board's family life advisory committee. But last night, about 50 people turned out to listen to a discussion on if the board should remove a resource book accessible only to teachers.

Local group Defend Traditional Marriage and Family objects to Open Minds to Equality because it presents homosexuality as "morally neutral," said group spokesperson Jack Fonseca in his presentation to the committee. "To the extent that some people may potentially be led by the book Open Minds to reject scriptural teaching on homosexual acts, to that same extent, they will have been led to reject Jesus."

Open Minds is "an educator's sourcebook of activities to help students understand and change inequalities based on race, gender, class, age, language, sexual orientation, physical/mental ability and religion," says the blurb on the back of the book.

In one section, a fictional grandfather explains to his grandson the difficulties he faced when he and his partner had to live in the closet because of fear of rejection at work and church. In another, the book invites students to discuss how a girl might feel if she invited friends over but their parents wouldn't let them go because her mother lives with another woman.

The book is an optional resource teachers can use if, for example, they want to address objectionable things being said in class, said Catholic board spokesperson John Shewchuk.

But even the fact teachers can use it is dangerous, Fonseca said. He argued God made men and women in his image and when a man and a woman have a child, it reflects The Holy Trinity. "To the extent that any educational resource may have the effect of affirming homosexual behaviour, that resource co-operates in the desecration of the holy image of God," he said.

Committee chair Cathy Sweeney questioned that interpretation. "I would hate to see it being acceptable that any person can look at another person and claim they're not created in the image of God, no matter what their sexual orientation," she said.

In an interview, Shewchuk called Defend Marriage "an extremist hate group." The group has an agenda that goes beyond the book to trying to discredit the school board, he charged. Fonseca recently appeared radio show claiming that the board runs "indoctrination courses for principals" that teach homosexuality and being transgendered is acceptable.

Nonsense, Shewchuk said. "It's so cut and dried that this is a hate group with their own agenda that's making stuff up and lying."

Defend Marriage has issued a statement admitting "it was a mistake to describe the workshop as an 'indoctrination course'" but adding the group "still fear(s) that some material in circulation might have the effect of undermining Catholic moral doctrine."

Brooke Young, co-ordinator of the OK2BME group for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth in Waterloo Region, also called Defend Marriage a hate group. "They tend to use religion as their guise for spreading hate speech," she said before the meeting. "(Fonseca) is encouraging people not to recognize the innate human rights of the queer community. He's discouraging that, which to me is hate."

The group's position comes from the catechism, Fonseca said. "To say that we're a hate group is to call the Pope and all the Bishops a hate group."

Just when you thought things couldn't get any weirder in the land of Fruits and Nuts (or would that be "piers and queers"?), Cardinal Mahony and the rest of his theological thugs are doing their level best to prove Our Lady of Akita right.

Not only has Loyola Marymount University in LA brought on-board and avowed anti-Catholic pagan professor , the University president, Father Robert B. Lawton, (a Jesuit... what else?) has stated the following concerning the new pagan prof, a certain Mr. Wole Soyinka "through his words and actions, Mr. Soyinka has transformed the world and embodies our university’s mission,” said Loyola Marymount president, Jesuit Fr. Robert B. Lawton, in a university press release. “It is an honor to have Mr. Soyinka at LMU.”

Golly gee... I wonder what kind of "words and actions" Prof Soyinka espouses? Could it be when he stated “I don't have the sort of temperament that submits to Christianity…”? Or possibly when he said “[I] couldn’t believe in the Christian god and for me that meant I was an atheist.”

No... no... no, I'll bet the clincher for Father Bobby was when this guy said “Until today, Catholics do not cope with the experience and the reality of abortion! They just shut the wall firmly against it. They fail to address the real problems of it; they refuse to adjust any of their tenets.”

Well, maybe it was the Los Angeles version of ecumenism that got this clown the job; "Christianity, said Soyinka, is insecure. “The person who needs to convert others is a creature of total insecurity,” he said. He called Christianity... “elaborate structures [of] superstition.”

Remember, this guy is a professor at a so-called "Catholic" university.

University president who brought feminist theologians and pro-abortion commencement speakers to Catholic university in LA gets accolade from Cardinal Mahony

Cardinal Roger Mahony has honored Jesuit Fr. Robert Lawton, president of Loyola Marymount University of Los Angeles, as one of the recipients of the 2008 Cardinal’s Award, according to a story in the Sept. 21 edition of the Tidings, the weekly newspaper of the Los Angeles archdiocese.

Since 1999, Lawton has had “the vision to integrate the university into all aspects of community life of Los Angeles,” said the Tidings’ article.

Under Lawton, the archdiocese and the university have enjoyed amicable relations. With the archdiocese’s Hindu-Catholic Dialogue, the university offered an April 2005 symposium featuring “ecofeminist” Rosemary Radford Ruether, who proposes calling God “Gaia,” the Roman Mother Earth goddess. In 2004 the university offered a symposium at which speaker Fr. Michael Crosby called celibacy “a system of power, of patriarchy.”

In 2002, the archdiocese’s office of religious education teamed with the university to sponsor a talk by Michael Morwood, whose book, Tomorrow’s Catholic, Melbourne, Australia Archbishop George Pell has condemned as containing serious errors. At his Los Angeles talk, Morwood argued that the Church’s understanding of God "suffers from the limitations of an outmoded cosmology."

Loyola Marymount has also become one of the training centers for the archdiocese’s lay parish leaders, who serve in the capacity of pastors.

In June 2006, Florida state circuit court Judge George Greer, who ordered feeding tubes removed from Terry Schiavo, spoke at a conference on media law at the Loyola Law School. “Based on the intense scrutiny and media coverage generated by the Schiavo case,” said a Loyola press release, “Judge Greer will bring a unique perspective to the journalists in attendance.”

Greer’s address was not the first connection Loyola Marymount has had with the Schiavo case. In 2004, Loyola Marymount bioethics professor James Walter signed on to the amicus curiae brief arguing that Michael Schiavo should be allowed to deprive his wife -- in a persistent vegetative state for 15 years -- of food and hydration.

The Lawton-led university has also repeatedly hosted pro-abortion speakers at commencement ceremonies. The 2006 commencement featured Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa; in 2005, it was California Attorney General Bill Lockyer. In 2000, pro-abortion Connecticut Sen. Christopher Dodd addressed graduates of Loyola Law School.

As far as entertainment goes, in 2004 the university participated in the V-Day College Campaign, complete with a performance of the Vagina Monologues.

Among the policy changes under the Lawton administration, the university began in 2004 to grant insurance coverage for its employees’ “registered domestic partners.” The previous year, Lawton mused that such an offering “may not be appropriate” at a Catholic university, but that it would, nevertheless, “follow state law in the matter,” according to minutes of a university meeting. Three years earlier, the university announced it would offer “enhanced contraceptive coverage” to its employees -- again, it was claimed, in response to a new state law, but at the very time Catholic Charities was fighting that law in court.

More recently, the university invited as visiting professor Wole Soyinka, a critic of the Christian faith. “Through his words and actions, Mr. Soyinka has transformed the world and embodies our university’s mission,” Lawton said in a university press release.

Cardinal Mahony named Lawton and four others as recipients of the 2008 Cardinal’s Award on Sept. 12. According to the Tidings, the awards are given to “members of the Los Angeles Catholic community who have extensive and distinguished records of service.” The Cardinal’s Award Dinner is scheduled at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza on Feb. 9, 2008.

Cardinal Mahony needs to go. I'll come out and say it... this man is leading souls to hell. And the whole time, with a smile on his face.

Not too long ago, I posted the story concerning the so-called "Catholic" parish (Most Holy Redeemer) in San Francisco (what a shock) that not only held a "Gay Mass", but also had its parish priest, Father Stephen Meriweather, bless participants in the San Francisco's annual gay pride march.

Said parish priest also has held such activities as transvestite bingo nights during which sex toys and pornographic DVDs were handed out as prizes. And of course the anti-Catholic bunch "The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence" (above right) were the ones who were in charge during queer bingo nights.

But anyhow, it's been hitting the Catholic blogosphere that the infamous San Francisco Folsom Street Fair is about to kick off... and the organizers of which have portrayed Christ and his disciples as half-naked homosexual sadomasochists in the event's promotional advertisement.

But guess what fellow bloglodytes? Most Holy Redeemer "Catholic" parish is right in there with in line with the festivities. Get ready for this... the "SF Desperate Divas 2008 Drag Calendar Grand Pageant" will be held on Sept 29th. Here's the description from the website;

Twelve of the Bay Area's most delicious drag divas will compete for the Crown and Title of Miss Desperate Diva 2008, culminating in the big reveal of who will grace the cover of the 2008 Desperate Divas Drag calendar, which will be available for purchase for the first time at the event.

It went on to state;

Now take a wild guess where this is being held. You guessed it... Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. And this abomination will take place on the eve of the Folsom Street Fair.

But anyhow, today I was thinking about my fay-vo-rite former Southern Baptist, Latin Mass sayin' priest. I got to thinking that he just might have some of his Southern Baptist cousins asking him all about the Traditional Latin Mass.

I would imagine that the conversation between Father P and Bubba ( you just know there's got to be a Bubba in there somewhere) might sound like...

About Sodomites
It's been pointed out to me that this is an inflammatory word. Good.

Let me explain:

A homosexual is a person who experiences primarily same sex attraction.

A gay is a person (usually used for males) who has decided that acting on same sex attraction is morally permissible, or even a socially positive activity.

A sodomite is someone who forces homosexual activity on another. (See the story of Lot--unsavory as it is). Minors are presumed not to be able to give consent, that's why sexual activities with a minor are commonly known as statutory rape. So--someone who has homosexual relations with a minor is a sodomite.

Explaining Liberal Thinking In A Single Column

Here's a tad bit of his article;

Liberals love to think of themselves as intellectual and nuanced, but liberalism is incredibly simplistic. It's nothing more than "childlike emotionalism applied to adult issues." Very seldom does any issue that doesn't involve pandering to their supporters boil down at its core level to more than feeling "nice" or "mean" to liberals. This makes liberals ill equipped to deal with complex issues.

Since liberals tend to support or oppose policies based on how those policies make them feel about themselves, they do very little intellectual examination of whether the policies they advocate work or not. That's because it doesn't matter to them whether the policy is effective or not; it matters whether advocating the policy makes them feel "good" or "bad," "compassionate" or "stingy," "nice" or "mean."

Examples;

1. As I've pointed out before, being an illegal alien is a mortal sin. If you disagree with me, then explain to me why The 10 Commandments admonish us not to lie, cheat, or steal. But that's exactly what illegal aliens have done the moment they enter this country illegally. And as I've pointed out before, the Catechism of the Catholic Church is very straight forward when we're instructed that immigrants are bound to obey the laws of their new country. Not only that, but the CCC also states that nations have every right in the world to control their own borders.

2. Again, as I've pointed out, it's the official teaching of The Church that in cases of extreme gravity, the death penalty is a viable option. And as we all know, The Church has taught such for 2,000 years. And yes, that particular teaching is Scripturally based.

But hey... it's easier to feel bad for those that have broken the laws of both The Church and this country when they are in an illegal alien status, Church Teaching be damned. But hey... it's easier to feel bad for some scumbag who kidnaps, sodomizes, rapes, sexually tortures, and eventually murders a little girl. Church Teaching be damned.

One of the most important things I learned in The Corps was that sometimes you have to put your personal feelings aside and do what you know is right. Even if it is Politically Incorrect and some just may brand you a heartless bastard. But that's what real leaders do... they lead, regardless of personal feelings.

Did you know that a US Marine must get a haircut at least once a week? And last time I checked with the barber-shop up in Camp Lejeune, haircuts were going for $3.50 a pop.

No big deal... that comes with the territory. But then I find out that Mr. Man of the People, Mitt Romney, dropped $300 on something called "a make-up consultant".

On what Romney spends on make-up, a Marine can get over a year and a half worth of hair-cuts. Is it just me, or does something seem kinda wrong with that?

But to put this into even better context, Mr. Ambulance Chaser himself, John Edwards, has been known to drop $1,250 for a hair-cut. That's right... 1,250 clams. That's seven years worth of hair-cuts for a Marine.

Yep, I think I realize now what "Two Americas" Edwards is talking about. And that phony-baloney Mitt Romney isn't far behind him.

Bishop Trautperson of the Diocese of Eerie is the chairman for the liturgy committee of the USCCB. You remember him, dontchya? He's the one that implied that the average American Catholic is too stupid to understand the difference between "for many" and "for all". Well, get ready for some vintage "Spirit of Vatican II-Speak" from two of my favorite guys.

From The California Catholic Daily, an article concerning how the Vox Clara Commission has set the end of 2009 for the completion and approval of the new English missal; And where the existing translation renders the Second Eucharistic Prayer’s haec ergo dona, quaesumus, Spiritus tui rore sanctifica... as “let your Spirit come upon these gifts to make them holy…,” the new translation has "therefore, make holy these gifts, we pray, by the dew of the Spirit...."

Bishop Donald Trautman of Erie, Pennsylvania, criticized the “dew” translation at the April 2006 Los Angeles archdiocesan Religious Education Congress, suggesting that the use of "dew" would evoke images of defecation for modern listeners.

I wonder if Bishop Trautman giggles whenever he says "...and Jesus rode an ass". Ya think the good bishop laughs out loud whenever he reads "... and the cock crowed three times". But seriously, does this mean that Rorate Caeli now has to change their name to Stercus Caeli? Sheesh. How'd this guy ever become a bishop?

But not to be outdone, Cardinal "What's $661 Million Between Friends" Mahony prattles on with; "Following the [clerical sex abuse] scandal," Mahony said, "the last thing our people need is to now disrupt the liturgy, which has been a source of nourishment and strength during this difficult journey."

You gotta be shittin' me. Even over the raped bodies of hundreds of children in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, Roger the Dodger will grasp and any sword to keep the Novus Ordo alive.

I honestly don't know what I should be more disgusted with... the absolutely asinine suggestion by the Dutch Dominicans for a "Priestless Eucharist", or the wimpy (and outright cowardly) so-called rebuke from the alleged Dominican leadership.

To say that the Dominicans in Holland have lost it, would be a gross understatement.

Rome, Sep. 18, 2007 (CWNews.com) - The worldwide leaders of the Dominican order have joined with a prelate in the Netherlands to criticize a pamphlet distributed by Dutch Dominicans, suggesting that lay Catholics should lead Eucharistic celebrations.

The controversial 38-page pamphlet was circulated by Dutch Dominicans in August to the country's 1,300 Catholic parishes. The tract argued that in the absence of a priest, lay ministers could confect the Eucharist. "Whether they are women or men, homosexual or heterosexual, married or single, makes no difference," the pamphlet said. "What is important is the infectious attitude of faith."

Bishop Hubertus Ernst, the retired head of the Breda diocese, saw the pamphlet-- which had been approved by leaders of the Dominican order in the Netherlands-- as "ambiguous" and "erroneous" in its understanding of priestly ministry.

From Rome, leaders of the Dominican order said that the pamphlet did not offer a realistic response to the shortage of priests. While applauding the concern for that shortage, the Roman leaders said that "this concern must be responded to in a careful theological and pastoral reflection."

It's obvious that the Dominicans in Holland don't believe in The Real Presence, and the Dominican leadership is too damned gutless to even defend Christ physically among us in The Eucharist.

By the way... no one just "drops off" pampheltes at 1,300 parishes without the authorization from someone rather high on the food chain. Just a thought.

Unless Rome comes down, and comes down hard, the only winners here will be satan and his evil minions, luther, calvin, and the rest of the ecclesiastical pimps.

US Conference of Catholic Bishops Appoints Woman with Pro-Abortion Ties as Policy Director

WASHINGTON, September 17, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) -- Kathy Saile, who once gave a speech on promoting liberalism at a conference held by a pro-abortion group, has been named Director of Domestic Policy for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB).

Previous to the appointment, Saile was Associate Director of Public Policy for Lutheran Services in America (USA), an organization that serves the extremely liberal Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA), which recently declared that their "clergy" were free to participate in homosexual relationships.

In her official capacity as Associate Director of Public Policy for the group, Saile gave a speech at a conference held by the organization "WIN", which describes itself as "Washington's premier professional, political, and social network dedicated to empowering young, Democratic, pro-choice women." The topic of the discussion was "Did the Left Cede Heaven? The Intersection of Faith and Politics."

The summary of the conference given on WIN's website reads: "Throughout American history religion has shaped US politics. Recent history has focused on the efforts and effects of Conservative Christians in the Republican Party, but the Left continues to be a party of people of faith. This dinner will highlight the way liberal people of faith organize to further progressive causes."

LifeSiteNews has also confirmed that Lutheran Services in America has a policy of distributing birth control at clinics affiliated with the organization.

A request for a response from the USCCB's press spokesman, Sr. Mary Anne Walsh, was not answered at the time of publication.

Now if a writer (and possibly a small research staff) could find out all this info, why couldn't whoever appointed her from the USCCB find out this information as well?

Or maybe that person or persons already did and have known all along.

Italian bishop forbids Latin Mass despite motu proprio

Naples, Sep. 17, 2007 (CWNews.com) - Bishop Raffaele Nogaro of Caserta, Italy forbade the celebrate of the celebration of the traditional Latin Mass on Sunday, September 15, despite the permission granted by Pope Benedict XVI for all priests to use the older liturgical form.

The Italian daily Il Messagero reports that Bishop Nogaro ordered Msgr. Giovanni Battista Gionta to cancel plans for a Mass using the 1962 Roman Missal at the Shrine of St. Anne. Msgr. Gionta, who had scheduled the Mass at the request of local Catholics, posted a note at the shrine to announce that he was changing plans. "I obey the bishop," he explained.

Il Messagero said that Bishop Nogaro ordered the cancellation of the Mass "so as not to set a precedent." The bishop said that he was taking action to help his people pray properly, since "to mumble in Latin serves no purpose."

I realize that The Holy Father would rather not go head-to-head when it comes to problems like this... but Your Holiness, now is the time for swift, decisive and concrete action. Anything less on your part will only embolden those who desire to defy not only you, but centuries upon centuries of Catholic tradition.

As the House Sergeant Major and I were driving to Mass this afternoon, as many married couples do, we were talking about a number of different topics. Everything from how our two favorite priests are both converts to The Faith (just like her) and good ol' Southerners (just like her).

As we yakked on about how orthodox these priests are in their Catholicism, the warnings of Our Lady of Akita came up. You know... priest against priest, bishop against bishop, cardinal against cardinal. The devil infiltrating The Church from within, etc.

Then the old girl looks at me and says "I was listening to Catholic radio the other day, and they had this priest on there... he was really good! He said that just because a man is ordained a Catholic priest, that doesn't necessarily mean he loves Jesus. He must have been speaking about Akita, huh hon? But I sure am glad that priest told the truth!"

But then she stopped, put kind of a sour look on her face and said to me in a somewhat hushed voice "but truth be told... I think he was a Yankee".

Despite what The California Catholic Daily just reported on, priests really don't need "permission" from their bishops to celebrate the Traditional Latin Mass. Who says so? Rome, that's who.

Rome, Sep. 14, 2007 (CWNews.com) - With the formal implementation of Summorum Pontificum, the Pope's motu proprio providing wider access to the 1962 Roman Missal, diocesan priests do not need permission to celebrate the Latin Mass, a top Vatican official has stated.

Cardinal Dario Castrillon-Hoyos-- the president of the Ecclesia Dei commission, which supervises Vatican outreach to traditionalist Catholics-- says that "from this point, priests can decide to celebrate the Mass using the old rite, without permission from the Holy See or the bishop."

In an interview with Vatican Radio on September 13, broadcast just before the motu proprio officially took effect, Cardinal Castrillon Hoyos explained that Pope Benedict's motu proprio affirms the right of any priest to use the "extraordinary form" of the Latin liturgy. "It is, therefore, unnecessary to ask for any other permission," he said.

Some diocesan bishops have cautioned their priests against using the 1962 Missal without explicit permission from the diocese. But the president of the Ecclesia Dei commission-- which would hear any appeals regarding the new liturgical rules-- contradicted that notion in his Vatican Radio appearance. While affirming the bishop's authority to resolve any liturgical conflicts within his diocese, the Colombian cardinal said that the bishop should exercise that power "without negating the right that the Pope has given to the entire Church."

Cardinal Castrillon Hoyos said that the motu proprio involves "no big change" in the liturgy of the Roman Church, since the older liturgy was never banned. Vatican II affirmed the freedoms of the faithful, he said, and one such freedom, which Pope Benedict has now confirmed, was access to the older liturgical form.

"Nothing is imposed on anyone" by Summorum Pontificum, the cardinal said. In allowing for greater use of the old Missal, he explained, Pope Benedict is merely "opening a possibility to the faithful who request it."

Such great fanfare over the motu proprio? It is doomed because liberals in chanceries all over the world will simply dig in until there is a new Holy Father. Never underestimate the power of entrenched bureaucracies. The Ancient Mass will never become established in my diocese because our force of 60's priests will quietly oppose it. It may take hold in a few places, but that will not be enough to catalyze the reform of the reform. Pessimistic? Yes. But realistic, I am afraid.

I hate to admit it, but there's a lot of truth to what Leo says. Unless The Holy Father sends a message (in Cavemanese: jump real high and stomp on their necks with both feet... figuratively, of course) he can count on transparent/phony lip-service and out-right disloyalty from a number of what his professed "loyal" bishops. This is what so-called collegiality spawns.

If a bunch of Protestant-mind set bishops want to play authority chicken with The Holy Father... bring it on. I for one would love to see Pope Benedict break out his Boomstick. (Can't you just picture His Holiness doing this to some of our more progressive bishops? In that light, that makes this scene all the more hilarious)

0523- Alarm goes off. Hit it with club. Went back to sleep.

0525: Alarm goes off again. Decide not to hit it with club again. Crawl out of the sack cussing. (note to self: go to Confession)

0526: Brushed teeth, splashed on foo-foo juice, drank extra-large cup of coffee, got my poop on.

0600: Turned on Sports Center. Cussed out the Padres for losing. Cussed them out again for losing to the hated dodgers (note to self: go to Confession).

0630: Drove to work. Uneventful. But then again, I'm use to the Rednecks driving 20 mph over the speed limit, and the Mexicans driving 20 mph under the speed limit.

0700: Arrived at work. Did mindless drone tasks for next 8 hours.

1500: Clocked out. Literally ran to my car before the boss could call me back in again to unscrew what someone else screwed-up.

1530: Got home, cleaned up, beat-feet to a certain far-away parish that has invited His Excellency to usher in Summorum Pontificum.

1807: Began Penance.

1859: Finished Penance (my Father-Confessor don't screw around. Well, at least he didn't go Medieval on my ass).

1900: Mass begins. The Mozart Mass in C Major, to be exact. Good lyrics... it had a pretty good beat... I could dance to it. I'll give it a 7.

1927: Overcome by the smell of incense. Got delirious. For some bizarre reason, kept repeating "semper ubi sub ubi... semper ubi sub ubi" (always wear underwear... always wear underwear). I think God wants me to stop going commando.

2033: Ite, missa est. Deo gratias.

2040: Went to reception for the Bishop. Met a nice, young Catholic girl who seemed to worry if she was a "chalice chipper". Wanted to remind her that if the sight of a pretty girl would make a young seminarian actually leave the seminary, then he shouldn't be there to begin with... but ended up teasing her on and off for the next 45 minutes. That little cruet cracker, her.

2053: Met all sorts of super groovy people. Everything from Captain America in Clericals to a simply wonderful couple who moved down this way from Pennsylvania. I made a conscience effort to steer clear of the Bishop. Just in case he's ever read my blog, but doesn't quite yet understand my so-called "sense of humor", I didn't want him to go all Max von Sydow on me and start splashin' holy water everywhere and yelling at me "the Power of Christ compels you! The Power of Christ compels you!!" Sometimes discretion really is the better part of valor.

2125: Gave nice, young Catholic girl yet another hug goodbye. In all seriousness, in a world that expects young ladies to exude sex, drugs and rock and roll, it sure was nice to meet a young lady who was the epitome of mom, apple pie and baseball. But she needs to work on that riff-raff she drug to Mass with her. Stinkin' college hippies. And why, pray tell, aren't any of 'em in the Marines yet? Sheesh... youth is wasted on the wrong people.

2126: Long drive ahead of me... so it's time to make like a heretic and leave the church.

OK, all seriousness aside, today was quite simply put, excellent in every way. May God bless and protect out Pontiff, our Bishop, and the priests who were at Mass last night, and for those who couldn't physically attend, were there spiritually.

Belgian police arrest anti-Islamic demonstrators

Brussels, Sep. 12, 2007 (CWNews.com) - Police in Brussels, Belgium, arrested about 150 participants in a September 11 rally against Islamic power in Europe. (what idiot ordered that?)

Among those arrested were members Belgium’s Vlaams Belang political party and members of the European Union parliament bearing flyers that read “No Eurabia.” Participants in the rally had come from Denmark, Holland, France, Italy and Belgium.

Brussels’s socialist mayor, Freddy Thielemans, (oh, now I know what idiot ordered that. A Socialist. Big suprise, huh?) had forbidden the “Stop the Islamization of Europe” rally on the grounds that it would offend the city’s Muslim community (hell, let's not offend any moslems, they just might get mad and burn down the city over cartoon drawings). Rally organizers had collected approximately 10,000 signatures on a petition to European leaders demanding that shari'a law be banned within the boundaries of the European Union.

Italy’s government has sent a letter of protest to Belgium requesting an explanation for the arrest of an Italian member of the European Parliament during the march. (I say that Italy should declare war on Brussels. This will be the first shot fired in a Catholic country fighting against a moslem caliphate. Let the New Crusade begin!)

Protestors in Brussels have raised their own complaints about what they saw as the excessive use of force by police in handling the demonstrators. (They should have disguised themselves as barbaric moslems. Then they would gave been given the key to the city)

Chaplain (Captain) Father Emil J. Kapaun, Servant of God

Thanks to the good folks over at House of Brungardt for reminding me of the story of Father Kapaun. A truly courageous man who was held captive by the heathen Communist Chinese during the Korean War.

Here's just one telling of Fr. Kapaun's incredible story;

Saintly Shepherd

One of the most inspirational stories to emerge from Korean POW camps is that of Catholic priest Emil Kapaun. A decorated hero, Kapaun is credited with helping countless numbers of men survive the horrors of prison life. Now, his supporters hope to see him officially declared a saint of the Roman Catholic Church.

A native of Kansas, Kapaun was assigned to the front lines in Korea with a unit from the 1st Cavalry Division. Staying behind to help the wounded when it was overrun, he was captured Nov. 2,1950. He saw a Chinese soldier preparing to shoot a wounded American, so he pushed aside the enemy's rifle and helped the wounded man for the next 100 miles to a prison camp.

In the compound, he washed the men's bandages and picked lice from their bodies. He took care of those who were debilitated by dysentery. Kapaun used a rock to beat scrap metal into a homemade pan and traded his watch for a blanket, using the blanket to make socks for others. Kapaun prayed for guidance to St. Dismas, the Good Thief who was crucified alongside Christ. Thus inspired, he stole food for starving prisoners. At night, he crept into the cornfields or guard huts and returned with corn, potatoes or salt.

On Easter Sunday 1951, the priest conducted a sunrise service. He made a cross from pieces of wood he found. He fashioned a rosary from barbed wire. Neglecting himself, over time, the emaciated clergyman grew weaker. Eventually, he lost the sight of one eye and walked with great difficulty on account of a blood clot lodged in his leg. In May 1951, the Chinese took Kapaun away to die, which he did at Pyotkong on the 23rd at age 35.

Catholic war veterans and others who knew Kapaun hope to persuade the Roman Catholic Church to canonize "the priest in combat boots." Meanwhile, he is permanently remembered in his birthplace of Pilsen, Kan. On June 3, 2001, volunteers dedicated a statue honoring Kapaun at St. John Nepomucene Church.

Defend Europe, avoid "Euroarabia," bishop urges

Warsaw, Sep. 11, 2007 (CWNews.com) - During a Mass celebrated on September 11 to mark the anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the US, the head of the Polish military chaplaincy appealed for a defense of Christian culture, particularly in Europe.

Bishop Tadeusz Ploski, the head of the military ordinariate, said that the Christian heritage of the European continent should be preserved, and warned against the development of "Euroarabia."

With representatives of the Polish military leadership in attendance along with Orthodox and Lutheran chaplains, Bishop Ploski issued a reminder that September 11 is also the anniversary of the Battle of Vienna, which he described as “Islam’s greatest defeat.”

Finally, a European Catholic Bishop displayes some moral courage by speaking the truth. God bless you, Bishop General Ploski.

And the king of all RINO's, Rudy Giuliani said Friday that being an illegal immigrant isn't a crime, and it shouldn't be one in the future either -- comments likely to anger conservatives already leery about his liberal immigration policies as New York mayor.

"It's not a crime. I know that's very hard for people to understand, but it's not a federal crime," he said. And, he continued, President Giuliani wouldn't try to make it one either.

Hey doofus, violating the federal immigration laws is considered a... what do they call that again? Oh yeah... a crime.

Sheesh, even those in favor of amnesty admit that illegal aliens have broken the law. But at least those folks want to change the laws correctly. Even though I disagree with them, I can respect the way many of them are going about it.

But hey, when it comes to Rudy the RINO, what would you expect from someone who calls himself Catholic, but is in favor of butchering children, and legitimizing sodomite "marriages"?

Oh, and "President Giuliani won't make it a crime, either"? What planet is this guy on? I don't know if he's running for president or emperor. Folks, Rudy Giuliani isn't merely out of touch with reality... he actually believes his drivel. And that makes him a truly dangerous man.

Two rather disturbing stories concerning a couple of our ever so dependable wolves in sheep's clothing... oops... I mean leaders. I swear, a bishop who actually adheres to Catholicism is rare. One who actually proclaims it outloud is rarer still.

First up, this uplifting story out of Los Angeles regarding Cardinal Roger "The Dodger" Mahony doing this damnedest to scrape together the cash to pay for the minor inconvenience otherwise known as the $660 million pay-off for his protecting rapist "priests".

The convent of the Sisters of Bethany is now up on the chopping block. It'll be turned into an upscale B&B, no doubt. Looks like Roger The Dodger is about to do to the good Sisters what many of his "priests" did to innumerable little boys.

SANTA BARBARA -- For 43 years, Sister Angela Escalera has lived and often worked out of her order's small convent on this city's east side, helping the area's many poor and undocumented residents with translation, counseling and other needs.

Now retired and partly disabled at 69, the nun thought she would live out her days here, in the community where she is still an active volunteer and in the dwelling that was built for the order in 1952. But she and the other two nuns at the Sisters of Bethany house recently received word that their convent, which is owned by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles, will be sold to help pay the bill for the church's recent, multimillion-dollar priest sex abuse settlement. (you reap what you sow, 'eh Rog?)

The nuns have four months to move out, according to a letter from the archdiocese. The notice, which was dated June 28 but not received until the end of August, (the very model of administrative efficiancy) asked the women to vacate the property no later than Dec. 31 -- and noted that an earlier departure "would be acceptable as well." Signed by Msgr. Royale M. Vadakin, the archdiocese's vicar general, the letter offers the nuns no recourse (translation: it sucks to be you, so haul ass, Sister) but thanks them for their understanding and cooperation during a difficult time.

"We're just so hurt by this," Escalera, the order's local superior, said this week. "And what hurts the most is what the money will be used for, to help pay for the pedophile priests. We have to sacrifice our home for that?" (Sister, if you were a homosexual rapist "priest", then the good Cardinal would take care of you.)

Tod M. Tamberg, spokesman for the archdiocese, said "The pain is being spread around..."

No, dumbass... innocent and decent people are being screwed because your boss accepted, protected and fostered a Lavender Mafia within the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, and the logical (and unbelievably obvious) consequence has come to fruition. So, Tod, if you want to yammer on incessantly about "the pain being spread around" have the decency to tell the world WHY there is so damn much pain to begin with.

Then we have this bit of cowardice coming out of Canada. Turns out the Bishop of Sault Ste. Marie can't (won't?) make a decision concerning Amnesty International using a local Catholic high school as their meeting place. You remember Amnesty International, don't you? They're the same fine folks who recently stated that abortion is a "human right". I guess that unborn human doesn't have any rights, huh?

The bishop of Sault Ste. Marie and the Trustees, however, seem to be playing an almost comical game of continuous pass-the-buck over whether Amnesty's decision to support the killing of unborn children is serious enough to warrant the group being asked to take its room rental fees elsewhere.

Board chairman Marchy Bruni told the local media that the Trustees are waiting on guidance from Bishop Jean-Louis Plouffe, while the bishop has said the decision is up to the Board. (Huh... what?) Bruni told the Sault Star on Wednesday, "It depends what information will be coming back from the bishop and from every other organization that we've been requesting information." (Huh... what? Part II)

Bishop Plouffe responded to the Sault Star that he will "very clearly" restate the Church's teaching on abortion, available in every Bible and Catholic catechism. However, the bishop has so far declined to say if he will give the Board the direction they are requesting as to whether the Church's already well-known teaching requires any particular action to be taken on the situation at hand. (Huh... what? Part III)

This whole things looks like a Three Stooges short. In the meantime, satan is having a helluva good laugh.

Bishop Burbidge Blasts A Barrage Of Blessed Bombshells

One diocese down, one hundred and ninty three to go. By the way, I know that His Excellency is originally from Philadelphia, And Philly is known as The Vatican of America. Could this mean that Bp. Burbidge just might turn the Diocese of Raleigh into The Philadelphia of The South? Works for me.

Implementation of the Apostolic Letter, Summorum Pontificum, of Pope Benedict XVI in the Diocese of Raleigh
In his Christmas address to the members of the Roman Curia on December 22, 2005, His Holiness Benedict XVI, shared his vision of shepherding the Church on a path of greater unity, continuity, reform, and renewal. As an essential part of this vision, on July 7, 2007, the Holy Father released his Apostolic Letter, Summorum Pontificum, clarifying the status and usage of the Missal of Blessed Pope John XXIII, published in 1962, prior to the liturgical reforms of 1970. The document also governs the use of other ritual books in use prior to these reforms.

Accompanying the Apostolic Letter, the Holy Father also wrote an explanatory letter to all the Bishops of the world providing the context in which the faithful should understand the objectives of the document. The Holy Father explains that the liturgical reforms of the Second Vatican Council found in the 1970 Missal, with its two subsequent revisions, remain as the Forma ordinaria or normal form of celebration of the Mass. The use of the 1962 Missal of Blessed Pope John XXIII is to be used as the Forma extraordinaria or extraordinary form of celebration of the Mass. Most notably, the Holy Father states that these two forms are not to be seen as two separate Rites of the Mass, but rather two forms of celebration within the one Roman Rite. The Holy Father clarifies this two-fold reality when he stated, “There is no contradiction between the two editions of the Roman Missal. In the history of the liturgy, there is growth and progress, but no rupture. What earlier generations held as sacred, remains sacred and great for us, too….”

Therefore, to implement Summorum Pontificum in every way possible in the Diocese of Raleigh, it is my intention to maintain the Forma ordinaria as normative for celebrations of the Mass, but also to make the Forma extraordinaria form of the Mass more available to the faithful. To this end, resources will be provided to those priests who are able and choose to study how to properly celebrate the Forma extraordinaria of the Mass so that both he and the people of God will best be served. There are many resources available to priests to aid them in this pursuit and so I direct those priests seeking formation to consult with the Vicar General, the Very Reverend David D. Brockman, for which formation program will be the most effective. (The Bishops is actually FOSTERING a love of the TLM in the priests of this diocese!!?? He's actually encouraging them!!?? OK, time to knock me over with a feather.)

Our Diocese is blessed (did he just say "blessed!!??) that we already have priests exercising an effective apostolate offering the Mass and other sacraments using the Forma extraordinaria. I am grateful to these priests for their generosity to assist any priest seeking liturgical formation in the Forma extraordinaria of the Mass. In particular, I wish to recognize the Reverend Paul M. Parkerson, Pastor of Sacred Heart Parish in Dunn for his leadership in this regard. I also express my gratitude to those in liturgical leadership at Sacred Heart, Dunn for offering liturgical formation in the ministry of altar server for the Forma extraordinaria of the Mass.

While Summorum Pontificum does not impose a minimum number of the faithful who may rightfully request (did he just say "rightfully request!!??) the Forma extraordinaria of the Mass from their pastor, the priests of the Diocese of Raleigh, and I, as Bishop, will do everything possible to respond appropriately and generously to the requests for this form with the resources we have (Unfortunantly, some of those very same "resources" are a number of priests in this very diocese that are flat-out heretics. But that's a different post for a different day. And besides... the Bishop's no dummy. He knows exactly what's going on). Our Diocesan website will soon convey more information on parish celebrations of the Forma extraordinaria of the Mass in our Diocese. (HUH?? WHAT!!?? MORE information on even MORE parishes that will be celebrating the Traditional Latin Mass!!??)

In recognition of the effective date of Summorum Pontificum on the Feast of the Exaltation of the Cross on September 14, 2007, I invite the faithful of our Diocese to join me at Sacred Heart, Dunn for a special solemn celebration of the Forma extraordinaria of the Mass. (Mrs. Caveman and myself will be there. I'll even leave my club at home) I will be the homilist for the Mass and Fr. Parkerson will offer the Mass as the celebrant (Did you notice he didn't say "presider"?).

The richness of the Sacred Liturgy is the heart of our Catholic faith. Both the Forma ordinaria and the Forma extraordinaria of the Mass have been the source of holiness for countless saints throughout history. May the richness of our Catholic liturgical prayer, now made more available to the entire Church, continue to lead us all to that same goal. In the words of our Holy Father, "Let us generously open our hearts and make room for everything that the faith, itself, allows."

I'll come clean... a week or so back, I was fairly upset about a few things that I thought were taking place here in the Diocese of Raleigh. Well, we all know what they say about hindsight being 20/20. Especially in light of this pronouncement, all I can say is "boy, was I ever wrong about Bishop Burbidge."

But just a gentle reminder; these maggots aren't warriors... they're terrorists. They have no intention whatsoever of a stand-up fight. Their main objective in life is to terrorize us. And what better way than to go after our kids?

And to hammer home the point even further, allow me to remind everyone what happened 3 short years ago, September 1, 2007 in Beslan, Russia. We all remember that, don't we?

For those who've forgotten, that's when a group of determined islamofascists attacked (you guessed it) a school, and killed 334 civilians (including 186 children) and hundreds more were wounded.

Allow me refresh your memory....
