Everything Old Is New Again
Same old heresy... different wrapper

Some German film maker is on his way to India to shoot something called The 13th Disciple. The gist of this flick is that Jesus has an evil brother who is, in general, raising hate and discontent present day. Yeah, yeah... it's all fun and games 'till someone loses their immortal soul.

But the notion that Christ has an evil brother is nothing new. Many non-Christian cults mutate and bastardize Sacred Scripture to fit their particular brand of heresy. Such as the Mormon belief that God the Father was once flesh and blood and eventually evolved into God the Father. Or that Jesus and Lucifer are the physical sons of The Father; Jesus being The Firstborn, and Lucifer being The Son of Morning.

With that in mind, take a gander at the Mormon's so-called Pearl of Great Price; The Book of Moses, Chapter 4. verses 1-4:
SELECTIONS FROM THE
BOOK OF MOSES
CHAPTER 4
(June—October 1830)

How Satan became the devil—He tempts Eve—Adam and Eve fall and death enters the world.

1 And I, the Lord God, spake unto Moses, saying: That satan, whom thou hast commanded in the name of mine Only Begotten, is the same which was from the beginning, and he came before me, saying—Behold, here am I, send me, I will be thy son, and I will redeem all mankind, that one soul shall not be lost, and surely I will do it; wherefore give me thine honor. (Gee, Moses "commanded" satan? And where in The Holy Bible does it say anything about satan even being considered to be The Savior?)

2 But, behold, my Beloved Son, which was my Beloved and Chosen from the beginning, said unto me— Father, thy will be done, and the glory be thine forever. (Quite the sibling rivalry, 'eh?)

3 Wherefore, because that satan rebelled against me, and sought to destroy the agency of man, which I, the Lord God, had given him, and also, that I should give unto him mine own power; by the power of mine Only Begotten, I caused that he should be cast down;

4 And he became satan, yea, even the devil, the father of all lies, to deceive and to blind men, and to lead them captive at his will, even as many as would not hearken unto my voice.

Like I said, this flick isn't espousing anything new.

  1. I've got nothing against a Mormon running for President as, to quote another, "we're electing a president not a preacher," but for Romney or anyone else to think the Mormons are Christians is nonsense. Their Jesus-and-Lucifer-are-brothers doctrine is just ONE example. Or, how about the Trinity, a basic tenet of Christianity in which they don't believe?
