Who Says The Schism Isn't Already Here?
Let's get readyyyyyy to RUMBLLLLLLLLLE!
The liberals got away with open, in your face disobedience during the entire pontificate of Pope John Paul II. And yes, everybody loved Pope JP2... but face it, he was no disciplinarian. He was essentially told to go to hell on a daily basis, and they got away with it.
These same bishops must think that's it's still buisiness as usual. The difference now is that we have a pope who won't put up with their crap. Case in point --
The Vatican official [Msgr. Perl] acknowledged that the Ecclesia Dei commission is preparing the new document as a response to widespread limitations on the use of the 1962 Roman Missal. Msgr. Perl expressed some impatience with bishops who have set conditions that go beyond the framework of Summorum Pontificum, complaining that a "sense of obedience and respect for authority has been lost."
It's been one month since the Latin Mass was freed. Within that month, we've had outright challenges to The Holy Father's motu proprio. A number of the posting I've done on this can be found here. And within that month, The Holy Father is is already sending signals to the latter-day-luthers that they're on notice.
Forget about "the cafeteria being closed".... it's more like "you want a reason to cry? I'll give you a reason to cry!". I wonder if The Vatican has a woodshed?
Fire for effect, Holy Father... fire for effect.

Outside of winning the lottery, there's nothing I'd like better than for you to be right about this.
But...
I'll believe it when I see it.
Ditto Paul.
I'll bring the wood and the torch to light the fire!
Nothing like a good old-fashioned roast (heh) to get the attention of the Bishops.
Vir--
I think things are comeing to a head also. The debacle in SF is still gathering steam, (see American Papist), the Moto Proprio is becoming a schwerepunkt, and the lines are being drawn much more sharply than before.
This may be the wrong thing to say, but I'll feel a sence of relief, and a sence of clarity.
Like you say Fire for effect...Ad 50, converged sheaf, battery 3 rounds repeat!
And, for good measure--DPICM in effect.
Until His Holiness pulls the pallium off (demotes) some of this successors of Judas Iscariot, the rest won't get the message.
What a day for an auto de fe!
I'd almost prefer you being right about this to winning lottery...
We'll see. God's time is not ours, after all.
Caveman,
I'm glad for the Motu and you Latin Mass believers, even if I'm not among you (see my post on the Novus Ordo). And it really does annoy me to no end that bishops will contest the will of Papa Ben (probably because I've been convinced, RATIONALLY, that all of the undoctrinal positions I used to hold are WRONG). We really, really need to pray -- a LOT -- for their conversion.
